Mehso-so

What a cute collection of shorts! None was particularly amazing, but they each had character. I enjoyed this collections despite calling it so-so. My favorite was a short about Ice King and Fin+Jake making competing comics. Half of that short was devoted to walking someone through how to produce their own short comic! An excellent activity inspiration for kids.

So today I found myself watching Adventure Time for the first time (because mentally I'm 12) and I really liked being in the land of ooo. What are some books similar to this type of magic/fantasy (they don't have to be graphic novels). I didn't think my brain was wired to enjoy this genre but I guess I was wrong 😀

AbstractMonica Adventure Time is Awesome! I know that adventure time has some graphic novels... 8y
AbstractMonica Marceline has her own series... and Amulet kinda reminded me of adventure time as well. 8y
Foxyfictionista My husband and I looooooove Adventure Time! There are a lot of Adventure Time comic books if you're interested. I don't know if novels that are similar though. 8y

BookFreakOut Maybe Nimona if you haven't read that. Adorable art and a shapeshifting MC who's all over the place, plus magic and science! 8y
Veganspacecat How about Zita the Spacegirl? 8y
LauraBeth @AbstractMonica thanks! I'm going to check out their graphic novels as well as Amulet and Marceline - thanks for the recommendations! 😀 8y
LauraBeth @Foxyfictionista I'm definitely going to go look at the AT comics - thanks 😀 8y
LauraBeth @BookFreakOut Just looked up Nimona - that seems fun - going to get that 😀 8y
LauraBeth @Moonflower just looked that one up - definitely going to get that - thanks! 😀 8y
caitfish4311 Apparently the next season will be the last. I've only seen it a couple of times, but it is so funny and cute. 8y
LauraBeth @caitfish4311 I'm always late to the party 😔 8y
Veganspacecat @LauraBeth I hope you enjoy all your new recommendations! Mathmatical! 8y
jes I love that show! I'm mentally 12 as well. No shame. 8y
LauraBeth @jes no shame whatsoever 😀 8y
Beetle I love AT too and these graphic recos are all great. Non-graphic novels that have a bit of AT spirit to them: Fablehaven, School of Good and Evil, Wildwood. 8y
Nelinator Lumberjanes is amaaazing. If you end up liking the later seasons, and you want something more 'adult' (and I mean reaaaally adult) check out Saga 8y
DeborahSmall I love Finn and Jake, it was trending on Facebook yesterday as its ending after its 9th season 🙁 8y
Jokila I second/third Nimona - similarly cute art and a sweet, meta-y fantasy world. Also, this is random but Nevermore, a comedic choose your own adventure novel based on Hamet lol. It was written by Ryan North who wrote the AT comics, and illustrated by the lady behind Nimona! 8y
