Nope. Not for me.The first chapter had me hooked but after that the writing and storyline took a nose dive. 😔

I really enjoyed this not quite a thriller but also not really a mystery. Told in a true crime style it was engaging and I had a hard time putting it down.
.... she quoted Voltaire: "One great use of words is to hide our thoughts." She explained that people are afraid of death, so they keep themselves safe by hiding the actual word. But that's so dumb, I thought. So immature. The word doesn't cause the thing to happen. Cancer and overdoses and airplane crashes cause the thing to happen....
We looked up denial next.
Book #55
3.5/5
This was a pretty good novel - unique storyline, good storytelling, held my interest. It did make me question my own moral compass a bit, because though the main character is guilty of 3 Murders (it's right there on the cover, so not a spoiler), I really found myself hoping that she wouldn't go to jail. 🤔
Feeling super “meh” about this book. It‘s not a spoiler to say that the MC has committed some murders but not the one she‘s accused of. That‘s the tagline, which drew me in. This then jumps back and forth from the present, where she‘s being investigated, and the past action which led to the previous crimes she‘s committed. It was long and drawn out, forgettable but a good premise. Entertaining and light while it lasted.
What a messed up book. It is decently written but I didn't care for the plot or MC much. She wanted sympathy for what she was accused of but she didn't deserve it. I was more upset about her cat being left alone! And the ending....
The opening chapter was so dark that I thought I was in for some Verity Crawford written villain MC. Ended up being more of a grown up version of Never Saw Me Coming. So, nothing groundbreakingly original, but good. It ended up being a real page turner, the characters and setting were captivating. But at the end, I‘m left with a few questions.
Dark & super intriguing. I love writers who can make a bad character feel good. Ruby is definitely not the best person, but remains likable. While her actions are undeniably beyond sane, the way she is presented nearly makes the reader feel that her choices are justified. It's an odd juxtaposition. Unsettling & yet at the same time so gripping. A really good mystery thriller debut. It created so many conflicting feelings & I loved it for that.

What an unconventional “murder mystery”👏🏻😂
Although our gal is a murderer, an experienced and creative one, she didn‘t kill him… Could a murder she didn‘t commit, unravel her true crimes?!🍩😬
Ok, so maybe Ruby has killed a couple of people. But not her husband, which the police suspect her of. We start during her initial interrogation and see stories from her past that led to this point. Overall, I really enjoyed this one, though I thought the ending needed something more. A lower pick for me.
This one was recommended in BookPage. I dived right in and couldn‘t put it down! If you love #mystery books, you‘ll love this one!
This is my favorite thriller this year. Ruby is a serial killer with a conscience. She only kills people who deserve it. Which is why she couldn't have murdered her husband. But his death is the one that could bring her down. This one sucked me in from the start & I couldn't put it down. This might be one of the only novels that had me rooting for the killer. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ahhh!! It's finally here!! I'm so excited! I've had rotten luck with thrillers lately. Please let this be amazing! 🤩🤞🏽
