Never Leave Me (Waters of Time Book #2) | Jody Hedlund
6 posts | 5 read
In the last stages of a genetic disease, Ellen Creighton has decided to live out her remaining days at the estate of her longtime friend Harrison Burlington. Harrison cares deeply for Ellen, but as a wheelchair-bound paraplegic, he's never allowed himself to get serious in a relationship. However, he's desperately trying to save her by finding the holy water that is believed to heal any disease. When he locates two flasks, Ellen refuses to drink one of them because she believes the holy water killed her sister and father. In an effort to convince her to take it, Harrison ingests the contents first, and when Ellen witnesses the effects, she can no longer deny the power of the substance in the bottles. Dangerous criminals are also seeking the holy water, and Ellen soon learns they will go to any lengths to get the powerful drug--including sending her back into the past to find it for them. Bestselling and award-winning author Jody Hedlund plunges you into the swiftly flowing river of history in a race against the clock in this breathtaking, emotional second Waters of Time story.

Thank you to Revell for sending me this FREE ARC COPY last year to review for them. This was only the 2nd book ive read in this Sci-Fi Time Travel Series by Jody Hedlund but i have to say this is MY FAVORITE Sci-Fi Series of all time. The Characters are so fun and interesting to read about. Ellen is definately my favorite mainly because of her determination to find out why Holy Water killed her father as she travels back in time.

I loved the first book in this series, but somehow, I think this one is better. There was just so much going on and we already knew the characters from the first book. This one really dove into the struggles of the characters, which I really enjoyed. I don't think I'm ready to let this one go yet. I want another book. This one did wrap up the storylines nicely, but there's potential for more. That might just be wishful thinking...

Not as fun as the first Holy Water Time Travel Novel. As much as I know the Lord brings healing, it feels really ableist to have this story feature two people getting miraculously healed of their lifelong conditions right at the start, so none of their further adventures have to be accessible for their disabilities. Ellen in particular falls flat as a character for me, too. #christianromance #exceptnotreally?

I love Ms. Hedlund‘s writing. Her characterization is wonderful, with the characters being fully explored & brought to life. Her narrative descriptions are vivid, setting each scene in detail so I felt I could see what she was describing. The characters adapt very quickly to the time, & she doesn‘t really explore the culture shock aspect of suddenly being in 1832, but the book raced along & I was so invested in the story I didn‘t really mind.
