A Catalogue of Catastrophe
A Catalogue of Catastrophe: Chronicles of St Mary's 13 | Jodi Taylor
9 posts | 5 read
'A great mix of British properness and humour with a large dollop of historical fun' ***** BOOK 13 IN THE INTERNATIONALLY BESTSELLING CHRONICLES OF ST MARY'S SERIES For fans of Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club series, Jasper Fforde and Doctor Who. --- When all is lost. When everything is ending. When there's no hope. When you can't win. That's when you attack. Punching well above their weight, Max and Markham set out to bring down a sinister organisation whose roots might be firmly embedded in the future but whose focus is the past. Max's focus is staying alive long enough to reunite with Leon and Matthew - alternately helped and hindered by St Mary's. Who aren't always the blessing they like to think they are. And that's not all. Are the effects of constantly leaping around the timeline beginning to make themselves felt? Is Max going mad? Or are the ghosts of the past finally catching up with her? What people are saying about Jodi Taylor: 'Once in a while, I discover an author who changes everything... Jodi Taylor and her protagonista Madeleine "Max" Maxwell have seduced me' 'Addictive. I wish St Mary's was real and I was a part of it' 'St Mary's stories are the much-anticipated highlight of my year' 'Jodi Taylor has an imagination that gets me completely hooked' 'A tour de force'

11-12-22: My 113th finished book of 2022! Book 13 in the Chronicles of St. Mary‘s series. Max and Markham are working for a new organization. They jump the timeline to capture nefarious folks and receive rewards for their efforts. One night, a organization called Insight threatens to end them. So they jump the timeline to figure out how to stop them and all hell breaks loose in 1848, 1605, the future…you get the picture. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣1️⃣1️⃣3️⃣

Pennyroyal: He leaned over the prisoners. ‘This one has a broken arm.'
Max: 'Mr Evans accidentally threw him against a wall.‘
P: ‘And a nasty gash to his head.‘
M: ‘Mr Evans accidentally did it again.‘
P: ‘And this one‘s bleeding.‘
M: ‘Dr Bairstow accidentally stabbed him.‘
P: ‘A real catalogue of catastrophe,‘ he said grimly.
😂😂😂

Not as much History as some of the earlier books in the series but a wonderful return to St Mary‘s world - how this author keeps track of her timelines and general shenanigans I do not know but am glad she does! So much fun.

Binged Read last few chapters on my Kindle cause I couldn't put it down. I go back to Audible and savour the ending a 2nd time. Brilliant as always.

Ways I'm like Max: "I shot off for tea and a pee, and not in that order, either."?

Andrew65 Hope you enjoy it. 2y
Itchyfeetreader Just spotted this had popped up on my kindle and so excited for tomorrow! Not going to lie having read these over about five years I think I might need a re read ! 2y
julesG @Itchyfeetreader I've only started reading the books last year, although I'd had the first book ever since it was self-published for kindle. So last year I thought I'd get rid of some ghosts on my kindle and fell down the rabbit hole. I've re-read several times. 🙈🙈 It's worse than any Pratchett-binge I've been on. 2y

Without giving away too much (look at the cover), there's going to be a visit to the House of Lords in early November 1605.

#GhostCat didn't like the book at all, my laughter disturbed her napping. She's glad I'm typing this review now.

Quite frankly, I cannot wait for the audiobook because I'm dying to know how Zara Ramm narrates the top half of p.394.

#sundayfunday @ozma.of.oz

1) The Embroidered Book by Kate Heartfield

2) Jodi Taylor, Deanna Raybourn, Julia Kent, Neil Gaiman

3) I'm rereading the series in anticipation of this, the 13th instalment of the Chronicles of St Mary's series.

BookmarkTavern Totally seconding Gaiman! Thank you for posting! 2y
