The year 1920 comes in with a roar in this rousing and suspenseful novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown. Prohibition is the new law of the land, but murder, mayhem, lust, and greed are already institutions in the Moonshine Capitol of Texas. Thatcher Hutton, a war-weary soldier on the way back to his cowboy life, jumps from a moving freight train to avoid trouble . . . and lands in more than he bargained for. On the day he arrives in Foley, Texas, a local woman goes missing. Thatcher, the only stranger in town, is suspected of her abduction, and worse. Standing between him and exoneration are a corrupt mayor, a crooked sheriff, a notorious cathouse madam, a sly bootlegger, feuding moonshiners . . . and a young widow whose soft features conceal an iron will. What was supposed to be a fresh start for Laurel Plummer turns to tragedy. Left destitute but determined to dictate her own future, Laurel plunges into the lucrative regional industry, much to the dislike of the good ol boys, who have ruled supreme. Her success quickly makes her a target for cutthroat competitors, whose only code of law is reprisal. As violence erupts, Laurel andnow deputyThatcher find themselves on opposite sides of a moonshine war, where blood flows as freely as whiskey.

The tone of this book was like reading a very suspenseful Turner Classic Movie, although some parts were fairly graphic. The plot centered around bootlegging in the 1920s and I enjoyed it immensely. The characters were well drawn and I could not stop reading.
This is the third book I've recently read set in the 1920s and the focus has has been very different from the ones based in Harlem and Shanghai than this one with white people in Texas.

The book My husband gave me for my birthday was missing about 50 pages! I discovered this as I flipped from page 183 to page 233. So annoying! 😮 Since I was already “into” it I made a Barnes & Noble run at lunch time yesterday to get another one. #readinglunch #happyreader #amazonreturn #BarnesAndNoble

On the lanai to savor the sunset & read 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 by 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻. ⁣It's set in 1920 in the Moonshine Capitol of Texas. Thatcher Hutton served in World War I but is now trying to make his way back to life as a cowboy. A corrupt mayor, crooked sheriff, notorious madam, sly bootlegger, feuding moonshiners & just-widowed Laurel Plummer complicate things, & set off a moonshine war.⁣

Blind tiger is one of my most anticipated books of 2021. I felt that something special was coming. And I wasn't wrong! Sandra Brown is getting better! More and more unpredictable, more and more frank, more and more spectacular, spectacular and profound! The characters of Blind tiger are so realistic with their weaknesses, not easy decisions and omissions that this can be any of us.I'm glad I was in a world that only Sandra Brown can create!

Every book that Brown writes gets exceedingly better and better! As she writes, 2020 was not a year she wanted to write about, and the 1920s sounded a lot more fun. Boy, do I agree! This book had such a great setting and character development! Brown did a fantastic job of weaving the thrill and excitement into the dangers of the prohibition era. A fantastic read! @CoverToCoverGirl

CoverToCoverGirl Ha! I knew you were going to really enjoy it! I agree that she gets better and better. Now the long wait until the next one. 3mo
StellaDz @CoverToCoverGirl I was kind of nervous! Dabbling in historical? But of course she put her crazy flair on it and it worked! Although it might have been a timeframe that just naturally blended with her crazy flair 🤣😉 I‘ll be eagerly awaiting the reveal for the next book! 3mo

New books! My male friend (?) and I browsed the bookstore last night. We "browsed" and ended up buying four books. I got three and he got one (like an amateur?)
