That Night
That Night | Gillian McAllister
5 posts | 4 read | 3 to read
Frannie, Cathy and Joe have always been close, bound not just as family, but by a tragic past until that night their loyalties are tested. Frannie has killed a man. Hit him with her car. She can't go to jail, she has a baby and this wasn't her fault, not really. Cathy and Joe agree to help: burying the body, lying to the police. But tangled in lies that grow knottier, the family struggles to accept what they've done. Who will crack first? Whose conscience will not be silenced? Or will these siblings prove that blood is thicker than murder?

I thought the boom started really strong, then came a bit predictable and the ending was just a bit too far fetched for me.

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this one. It‘s another book club pick and I‘d heard mixed reviews. It‘s an easy read and well written. I would definitely read another book by this author

This had the potential to be a really good story but sadly for me it didn't quite deliver as much as I had hoped. I couldn't quite get myself truly invested in the characters. The plot itself is quite slow and jumps from present to back to the incident so it gives you a slightly more detailed look at how everything came together but I found the ending a bit more vague than I would have liked. #Netgalley 2*

Uhm... was I actually just able to pre order a book from Amazon UK for delivery to the US?? Has anyone ever done this before? If so, I AM SO EXCITED! I cannot wait for this book to release! 😁📚💜💕

TheBookHippie I do it both ways and yes it‘s always worked! 3y
BooksCoffeeNurse @TheBookHippie I feel like I got away with something. 😆 This book will take much longer to release in the US, and this is one of my favorite authors. I‘m glad you confirmed that it works! ☺️ 3y
TheBookHippie @BooksCoffeeNurse I actually have no clue why either. I was mailing to @andrew65 and left it there and ordered for me and it came and Andrew has had no issues when I‘ve used it to mail him 🤷🏽‍♀️ I‘ve used US and UK to Mail to UK 🤣 it may be a glitch and we‘re lucky !!! 3y

MsMelissa I‘ve ordered books from Amazon UK, including pre-orders. I‘ve also ordered from the main Amazon site (not the Canadian site). There are items that you can‘t purchase if the mailing address isn‘t in the same country as the Amazon site you order from due to import/export restrictions (for example Canadians can‘t import via mail children‘s/baby products from US due to different regulations) but books aren‘t location restricted. 3y
MsMelissa Also, if you‘ve never used it, The Book Depository is a great book site based in the UK (it‘s owned by Amazon). They ship for free. www.bookdepository.com 3y
BooksCoffeeNurse @MsMelissa Wow that‘s awesome to know! I wish I would have known sooner. ☺️ But I have ordered from Book Depository, and while I do love them, they don‘t always have what I‘m looking for. At least not in the last two occasions. 3y
rwmg I live in Indonesia. If I want a book sent here I have to order it from Amazon US, though Book Depository UK will ship to Indonesia. I can order from Amazon UK if I want the book sent to a UK address and from Amazon US if I want it sent to a US address. The position is even more complicated with ebooks. 3y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie It‘s worked great and the last book you did this for I loved! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sometimes I‘ve done this for C S Harris books which seem to be hard to get hold of in the U.K. 3y
