An unexpected love quadrangle with a dash of unrequited love as two classmates, a boy and a girl, begin to fall for each other when each of their best friends have already fallen for them. Love is already hard enough, but it becomes an unnavigable maze for unassuming high school student Taichi Ichinose and his shy classmate Futaba Kuze when they begin to fall for each other after their same-sex best friends have already fallen for them. For some reason, Taichi Ichinose just cant stand Futaba Kuze. But at the start of his third year in high school, he finds himself in the same homeroom as her, along with his childhood friend Toma Mita, a star athlete. But one day, Futaba opens up to Taichi and admits she has a crush on Toma. She then asks for his help in confessing to him! Theres just one problemToma seems to already have a secret crush on someone else.

Coming of age story with healthy communication between characters. After finishing the first volume I immediately requested the next one, I'm excited to see where the story goes

I read all eight volumes in one sitting and wow. I loved the characters, they were so cute— especially Taichi! He was adorable! The fact that it was more of a coming of age series than a romance was beautiful. I loved and hated the fact that we don‘t get to see how the two characters got together in the end, but that wasn‘t the point. It was surprisingly thought provoking at times as well. I loved this series and would totally read again.

I am emotional this is one of the best coming of age stories I've encountered in a while, definitely worth it if you like a well developed romance manga where characters actually communicate with eachother

This review is actually for the whole series. I got a Shonen Jump subscription and went crazy.

This is a melancholy slice of life that focuses on romance, but leaving at just romance is not doing Kaito justice. The final year of high school is normally a time of tumultuous emotions for everyone and “Blue Flag” reminds you of that in a beautiful way. #manga #bookjournal

I wasn‘t sure if this star-crossed quadrangle of high school romance would work for me but it does. I‘m already hooked on the characters, even though this first volume only hints at the queer content yet to come in subsequent issues of this rom-com series. Friendship gift: squish the plastic fish to spill its guts. #Translation from Japanese by Adrienne Beck, published in traditional right to left #manga format. #comics #graphicnovel #LGBTQ

Well, Kuze-san is like a small, defenceless animal. Like a hamster or something.
