I finally read this. At the bookstore I worked at previously a lot of my older customers loved this author and always wanted me to read him, so even though I‘ve since left I finally made sure to give him a go. We always had a waiting list for all his books for customers so there must be something there I figured. The humor is alright I guess but not really my cup of tea, but I could see why people enjoy his writing. 🤷‍♀️ Quick easy listen.

Pickpick

I grew up on McManus's articles in magazines like Outdoor Life & his collections of short stories - the kind that are "mostly true" - about growing up in (very) rural Idaho, where farming, hunting, & fishing were all a part of every day life. Somehow, though, I have never gotten around to reading his foray into fiction - a mystery series centered around the sheriff of Blight County, Idaho. This was a very fun & lighthearted read. The mystery ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) isn't the strongest I've ever read, but this is basically a cozy mystery - it's definitely more silly than serious, with a slightly irreverent gang of characters (including Tully's dad, who used to be the sheriff, & who was definitely my favorite) & a lot of campy humor. If you're looking for a serious crime procedural, give this one a miss. But if you like your mysteries to be a bit on the ridiculous side, this was a fast & fun read. 3y

CorLie I had no idea he wrote fiction. Cool! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @CorLie - I could be wrong, but I think this series of six books were his only fictional ones. If you like his other writing, there's a lot to enjoy with these as well. I'm already halfway through the second book - they read really fast. 3y
