Depression, dementia, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, suicide, and others, are each treated with a compassionate chapter that begs for our better understanding.
panGiving the extra half point since I appreciate what the author was trying to accomplish. However, the suicide chapter alone bothered the crap out of me since it felt like blaming and making it seem that the “real” sufferers are the family left behind. Which, even understanding that on a personal level, that completely glosses over the feelings of the person who made the choice. That aside, the rest was just superficial anecdotes sprinkled with ⬇️
pickFirst off, trigger warnings for self harm and suicide. This is a fascinating book. It‘s almost a primer on mental illness, so give it to your mother who doesn‘t get your depression and anxiety. (Did I imply too much? 😉) My only dislike was that there seemed to be a touch of blaming in the suicide chapter, but he turned it around with great understanding in the final chapter.

pickReading graphic novels about mental illness is usually a pretty visceral experience for me and this was no exception!
Stopped by the library with @kylienoele and picked up a couple of graphic novels!
pickI just finished reading my first graphic novel! This book was amazing and really describes mental illness in a way that is easy to understand. The author was a caretaker in a mental health clinic and he also has experienced first-hand how debilitating mental illness can be.
