5 posts | 5 read | 6 to read
Shes been waiting her whole life to meet a man like Alex. But hes been waiting too. And once he has her, hell never let her go Hannah has done everything to make sure her life is safe and secure. A long way from her unstable childhood growing up in foster care, shes content with her sweet, little, messy apartment and her satisfying job as a social worker. She quietly worries that, aged 36, she might never fall in love. But otherwise her life is where she wants it to be. Until, encouraged by her best friend to join a dating app, she meets Alex. Hes irresistibly handsome. He loves the same music as her. The same food as well. They both dream of travelling the world but agree theyd be equally happy escaping to a cottage by the beach in Devon. Both of them would love to own a Labrador one day. Its like hes made for her. Its like hes too good to be true. Hannahs friends arent so sure about him. But Hannah thinks hes perfect. Which is good. Because Alex knows shes perfect for him too. In fact, shes exactly the girl hes been looking for And nothing Hannahs done to make her life safe will ever be enough. A gripping and suspenseful psychological thriller about dark obsession and internet dating. Fans of The Wife Between Us, Friend Request and Gone Girl will adore this unputdownable twisted love story. Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. I have loved Sue Watson's thrillers ever since reading her first one and this book did not disappoint either. It was creepy enough to keep me hooked without being far fetched as some books in this genre can be. This book will definitely leave you questioning the safety of online dating and just how real people are on their social media profiles. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sitting across from Alex, Hannah believes she has found the one. He wants everything on her list- 3 children, a labrador, and weekends in Devon. To some, Alex's actions appear controlling and manipulative; however, to Hannah it is his way of showing love. Who can Hannah trust to help her dissolve the puzzle that is Alex? Or is he as wonderful as Hannah thinks he is?

This suspenseful novel starts off slow but the ending merits reading until then.

First Date grabbed my attention from the first page.

Hannah has the perfect first date with Alex. Red flags start to be revealed. Is Alex really as perfect as Hannah thinks? Is anything Alex says true.

The end was very unexpected in the best way. I recommend First Date to domestic thriller fans.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for First Date.
