#CurrentlyListening to the 7th in the #AmoryAmes #cozymystery series, the latest installment in this fun series set in the early 1930s.

Book 7 - this can easily be read as a standalone. I didn't guess the mystery and I appreciated both that the murder wasn't gruesome and the small village secrets weren't super seedy. However, the amount of repetition was unbearable. It felt like Weaver had a minimum page goal and not enough plot to reach it. If I had to hear about the rough start to the MCs marriage again, I was going to scream. #netgalley

It's hard for me to believe that there are already seven books in this series. I keep thinking we're only at three or something. Regardless, the Amory Ames mysteries are a more recent historical mystery fave.

Mistaken identities, long lost relatives, unearthed family secrets, and a very tangled web of lies are the hallmarks in this book. While not my favorite in the series, it still managed to throw up a red herring or two.

I really enjoy this series, and this 7th installment doesn‘t disappoint.
Amory and Milo are anticipating the birth of their first child at their country home when one of their stable hands is inexplicably murdered. A second death follows, and Amory feels compelled to investigate.
There isn‘t as much physical action in this one, but of course Amory is 8 months pregnant. And I did miss Milo as he was away from home at intervals. ⬇️

I love the covers of all the previous books in this series but hate the cover of this one. Mostly it's the color scheme but maybe also the poofy sleeves on the dress.

But I liked the story in spite of the ugly cover! Amory solves two murders in the last month of her pregnancy. Kept me guessing all the way until the end. Didn't care for all the inner monologue that usually explained something obvious or unnecessary so just skimmed those parts.
