This is, um, the most ambitious, artful, amazing, etc...graphic novel that I have read. Ferris's artwork is just astounding. I definitely just lost myself in it at times.
As far as the narrative, there are several storylines woven through. Some are stronger than others, all incredibly emotionally intense, please be advised of trigger warnings bc this will hit you.
The second (and final) volume releases next year and I'm so anxious to finish this!

AmyG I, too, can‘t wait for the new book. Stunning illustrations. I loved it. 3mo

The art in this graphic novel is unlike anything I‘ve ever seen. The narrator is a young girl with a complex life. There are a lot of storylines up in the air, but this is part one of a (I‘m guessing) 2-part series. (GoodReads said May of 2023 for part 2,but we will see.) I was really invested in everything that was happening. Seriously though, if I could, I would hang this artwork in my home. Stunning.

vivastory I loved this one. I'm skeptical on the release date of vol 2, it's been pushed back for years now 1y
AshleyHoss820 @vivastory We can be cautiously optimistic, but it doesn‘t look likely. It‘s a rock and a hard place: you want to be supportive of the artist and their time, but you also really want to know the story! ☺️ 1y
BarbaraBB I still need to read this one. It‘s on my shelves! 1y
AshleyHoss820 @BarbaraBB There is a lot going on, and I would have been disappointed if I didn‘t know this was a part one situation. ☺️ I was just so spellbound by the art! Hopefully they release part 2 soon and I can have some answers. 😂 I hope you enjoy it too!! 1y

I like the art, but I'll need to read the second book to really know how I feel about the plot... I found some part quite lengthy. For the moment, I'm on the fence...

I don‘t think there is anything I can say about this book that hasn‘t already been said. It‘s every bit as good as I‘ve always heard. The artwork is gorgeous & complex, the story full of twists and turns, and the narrator a truly wonderful, surprising character. This book exemplifies what makes graphic novels such an immersive, compelling, & emotionally powerfully medium for telling stories. Highly recommended.
