A Woman on the Edge of Time
A Woman on the Edge of Time: A Son's Search for a Mother Who Wanted More | Jeremy Gavron
5 posts | 3 read | 8 to read
Jeremy Gavrons quest to find his mother has produced a groundbreaking book and moving portrait of a spirited young womana captive wifewho refused to accept the social constraints of her time. Unforgettable.Tina Brown London, 1965: A brilliant young woman has just gassed herself to death, leaving behind a note, two young sons, and a soon-to-be-published book. A promising academic and feminist at the dawn of modern feminism, no one had imagined Hannah Gavron might take her own life. Forty years later, her son Jeremy attempts to solve both this mystery of his mothers death and the mystery of the mother he never had the chance to know. From the fragments of life she left behind, he ultimately uncovers not only Hannahs struggle to carve out her place in a mans world; he examines the constrictions on every ambitious woman in the mid-20th century.

Excellent! Unforgettable! A great reading experience on many levels! I think saying too much may spoil it for those interested in reading this book, that is true yet so much like a mystery novel. I will share two major thoughts that come to mind after finishing it: There are no easy answers. Life is more complicated than most of us ever imagine.

RealBooks4ever My library doesn't have this book, so I recommended to them that they get the audiobook version! I like listening to non-fiction while I'm at work. 🎧 7y

Life is so good for me right now, reading two awesome books in a row. Ok! Guess I will need to go to my job to earn coins to buy more books. 😂

melbeautyandbooks Love it when that happens! The good books not the work part. 😆 7y

Welcome to #LitsyPartyofOne headquarters for yours truly. It's a little messy... a little chaotic... and I started eating the yogurt between pictures 😄 It's my happy place and I love it! 😍

I also finished listening to A Woman on the Edge of Time as I was creating this little photo collage and it was outstanding! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
