The Telling
The Telling | Alexandra Sirowy
A chilling new novel about a girl who must delve into her past if she wants to live long enough to have a future when a series of murders that are eerily similar to the dark stories her brother used to tell start happening in her hometown.Lana used to know what was real. That was before, when her life was small and quiet. Her golden stepbrother, Ben was alive. She could only dream about bonfiring with the populars. Their wooded island home was idyllic, she could tell truth from lies, and Bens childhood stories were firmly in her imagination. Then came after. After has Lana boldly kissing her crush, jumping into the water from too high up, living with nerve and mischief. But after also has horrors, deaths that only make sense in fairy tales, and terrors from a past Lana thought long forgotten. Love, blood, and murder.

Earlier in the summer, Lana lost her beloved step-brother in a tragic accident. Now, days before the start of school, she and her friends find a body—and come under suspicion as the danger continues to lurk in their small community. It‘s an entertaining YA mystery-thriller with some twisted turns.

+10 for a mystery-thriller

I typically do not read YA, especially YA mystery/thriller, but The Telling is exceptional. It is a book that will be hard to put down, and in between reading you will be talking about it to anyone willing to listen.

Mehso-so

Some parts of the book were hard to follow and tell the difference between something from the past and something that was currently happening. Overall not too bad though with a couple of twists to the story. It started off fast and slowed a little in the middle and ended fast again.
