This funny yet information book, So You Want to Be President written by Judith S George and illustrated by David Small, is a HF that will have students laughing and learning all at the same time about our Nation‘s Leaders. It is a Caldecott award winning book, a great IR for students, and a fun way to bring social studies to life! A classroom must! #ucflae3414su20

Emmaturtle3 UDL 3.1 Can be used when discussing with students about our nations past presidents and their prior knowledge on them. Yes oh well strategy #4 Also aligns well with the UDL principle! This resource https://www.teachervision.com/us-presidents/so-you-want-be-president-literature-... gives 10 great activities and from building a white house to writing essays!! 4y
Mazzole18 What a great book especially with all the debates going on over Mount Rushmore. UDL 3.1 seems like an excellent choice for creating prior knowledge about our nations past presidents. These look like great activities I like that your incorporated a writing activity. Nick 4y
DrSpalding This is a factual story about 41 of our presidents. The illustrations can throw you off however they are meant to intrigue young children while providing factual information about previous presidents. Your resource is a valuable one. I specifically like number 10 where it says to build a White House and include a floor plan. What a great literature/math/engineering activity. 4y

The 2001 Caldecott winner, So You Want to Be President demonstrates what it is like to have one of the most glorified jobs in America. It highlights all of the benefits such as living in a big fancy White House, but it also talks about the negatives such as how stressful the job truly is. I think this book would be amazing to connect to a history lesson about elections and past presidents.

Ryan_R There are so many steps a candidate has take in order to become president. This lesson and game will help students see the hard work it takes to live in the White House. https://www.icivics.org/node/67038/resource?referer=node/39863&page_title=Politi... 4y

Mehso-so

This book was good and informative and goofy but I definitely wouldn‘t read it in a kindergarten class room because they wouldn‘t be able to pay attention for the whole entire book.

So You Want to Be President by Judith S George was written in 2000. This was a very good book, but definetly is meant for older kids. It is a little lengthy, but a great read! The illustration was also very well done!
