The Killing Season: A Novel
The Killing Season: A Novel | Mason Cross
12 posts | 10 read | 15 to read
"Pulse-pounding. Mason Cross launches into The Killing Season with no-holds-barred, as he deftly combines an adrenaline rush plot with one of the best new series characters since Jack Reacher. Prepare to read all night."Lisa Gardner, New York Times bestselling author The first thing you should know about me is that my name is not Carter Blake. When Caleb Wardell, the infamous 'Chicago Sniper,' escapes from death row two weeks before his execution, the FBI calls on the services of Carter Blake, a man with certain specialized talents whose skills lie in finding those who don't want to be found. A man to whom Wardell is no stranger. Along with Elaine Banner, an ambitious special agent juggling life as a single mother with her increasingly high-flying career, Blake must track Wardell down as he cuts a swathe across America, apparently killing at random. But Blake and Banner soon find themselves sidelined from the case. And as they try desperately to second-guess a man who kills purely for the thrill of it, they uncover a hornets' nest of lies and corruption. Now Blake must break the rules and go head-to-head with the FBI if he is to stop Wardell and expose a deadly conspiracy that will rock the country. Slick, fast-paced and assured, The Killing Season is the first novel in the gripping new Carter Blake series.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It had a solid plot, likeable characters, and a great narrator. When a serial killer escapes custody on the way to his execution, he vanishes without a trace. It is only a matter of time before the killing begins again, so the FBI hire Carter Blake to assist their taskforce. Blake knows how to find people that don't want to be found. Can he stop the killer before the body count climbs too high?

Huzzah!! I believe I have discovered the next Lee Child and Jack Reacher! His name is Mason Cross and his character Carter Blake is one to watch. This is book #1, I would try to find a first edition and hold onto it. Seriously.

High-suspense cat-&-mouse at its most taut & fun. TKS is the debut in a new series featuring Carter Blake--past mysterious--called in by the FBI to find serial "Chicago Sniper" killer, ex-military man Caleb Wardell, recently escaped from death-row transport. With freedom anew, Wardell goes on another killing spree for the sake of killing. Talk about intense! A quick intelligent read for the thriller genre. Pair with: Yuengling, chilled, bottled.

Merethebookgal Very cool pic! (This might be weird, but I like walking around really old graveyards, there's so much history, and I always wonder what their lives were like.) 8y
