I love this story. It‘s how I try to live my life, especially professionally. I always try to remind myself of this when things get hard, and if I end each day having made a difference to just one “starfish,” then I‘m doing okay.

This reminded me of L‘Engle‘s Troubling a Star—it has a similar “teenager gets caught up in international intrigue” plot. I liked the idea of it, but the intrigue part of it felt too unrealistic. And the main character felt WAY too naive to me, so as he struggled to figure out who to trust, I just rolled my eyes. I‘m torn on how to rate this, because I would‘ve loved it when I was a kid. I definitely read it too late! But how ‘bout that cover? 😂
My husband glanced at this truly terrible cover from 1980 and said: “What is that? It looks like you‘re reading some sexy beach book or something.” 🤦🏻♀️ 😂 Madeleine L‘Engle does not write “sexy beach books,” but I have to admit that the story has been a little eye-roll-inducing so far... matching the cover!
The latest #24in48 prompt is the perfect opportunity to show off my finds from yesterday‘s secondhand bookshop excursion. My favorite series, as a child, were Madeleine L‘Engle‘s Wrinkle in Time books. I couldn‘t resist this groovy green 1965 edition!
Day 54: Living by the ocean is great but sometimes I wish we had more seasons ☃️🌈🌞🍁

This was a wonderful espionage novel. It makes a great pairing with Mary Stewart's Moon Spinners. And a bonus for Wrinkle In Time fans, somewhere along the line the characters tie in with the Murrarys.
This book was also an addition to my #mounttbr climb. I am getting close to Pike's Peak.
Everyone thank you for your support today. Things didn't go so hot at the oncologist. I have surgery set for February. Let's just hope that what the doc finds is benign. Now I'm going to eat way too many Rice Chex and read my nervousness away.
Currently I am on page 60 in my book. These are the new glasses. I don't know if you can tell in the pic, but they are a nice shade of purple. They make me feel like Clark Kent.
I had "fun" with my mammogram this morning. Now this afternoon I have to go to the oncologist. And while I was typing this update my mum called me and said that she just found out that my paternal great grandmother died from reproductive cancer. Oh boy!
Book polygamy is in full swing with tittle number 3 that I am reading.
Happy National Book Lovers Day!! This is Edgar Allen Crow and he is perched atop my hardcover Madeleine L'Engle collection on invisible shelves. I've inducted my daughter, Phoenix, into her own love of L'Engle and it makes me incredibly happy, especially when A Wind in the Door was required reading and my girl got to tell her teacher she already read it. My work is done.
