And now for something completely different...

This was the choice for my romance book club - a vampire romance 🧛‍♂️

I would NEVER have picked this up on my own. I do not like fantasy and didn‘t enjoy those aspects of the book (hidden realms, a powerful ring, blah, blah, blah)

However, I really liked the female main character who was a mortal from Appalachia. And I didn't mind the smut 😂

I won't continue the series, but this wasn't bad

1. Yes, as long as their redemption makes sense.
2. Tagged, if you know you know

Today‘s #LittensDressedinBlood prompt:

Sympathy for the Devil

Now not the literal devil, he is the villain for much of the series and becomes the hero in his book in an amazing way. My favorite character of the series!

eri.reads I love Lothaire too! I really need to get back to this series. I stopped just before the Dacians book dropped. 😔 3y
Nessavamusic @eri.reads This is actually the last one I‘ve read. Going to start back up again in October! 3y

Still working my way through the IAD universe. While I do love a reformed bad boy, this one is not for the faint of heart. Very dark and twisted, this anti-hero kept me guessing for sure! As always, her characters are layered and nuanced and I love seeing the other ed characters flow in and out of there story. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Mehso-so

I absolutely loved Lothaire as a character. He is such a well written “villian”. I loved how on the outside he seems cool and collected but his story showed how dude is just spiraling out of control, his grip on reality is slipping, he wants to protect and guard his own emotions so is constantly betraying others before they can betray him. The intimate scenes were...umm..not my cup of tea lol. Also his connection with Nyx, wasn‘t expecting that!

I suggest reading other Immortals After Dark novels before this one, because Lothaire's redemption (of sorts) is gratifying. Millenia-old powerful, vengeful vampire lord falls in love with a possessed mortal from Appalachia. Very, very over the top (like most of the series) but it works.

Fated Mates hyped the hell out of this one and it didn't fully deliver for me. I just don't really care about Lothaire. Still, it was a fun book and I liked the bits we got with Ellie and the Valkyries.

Romance novels are my #feelgoodbooks They are my comfort zone books - and while I love that #Litsy has pushed me to try books I usually wouldn't - I still love going back to my HEAs! (Kresley Cole's books are some of my favs, especially to reread - and it was awesome meeting her) #bookphotochallenge

Possibly the best book of the series. Lothaire is the most frustrating and hilarious character. Great character interplay. Sex is great, but you need to be interested in the person for actual lasting passion.
