A new standalone novel from Jodi Ellen Malpas, the bestselling author of the THIS MAN and ONE NIGHT trilogies People think they have Camille Logan nailed: daddy's girl, beautiful, spoiled young woman with her father's bank balance to fund her lifestyle. But Camille is determined to have a life free from his strings. Out on her own, she's made mistakes, including one that found her clawing her way back after a stint in rehab and plenty of bad press. Now, after fighting so hard to be independent and happy, she finds her life threatened as a result of her father's ruthless business dealings. Caught between resentment and fear, Camille prepares herself for the measures her father will take to protect her. But nothing could prepare her for the ex-SAS sniper who crashes into her life. Jake Sharp resides in his own personal hell. He was distracted from duty once before, and the consequences were devastating - both personally and professionally. He vowed to never let that happen again. Accepting the job of bodyguard to Camille Logan isn't the kind of distraction from his demons he should take. Women and Jake don't mix well, yet protecting the heiress seems the lesser of two evils. But Jake soon discovers that she isn't the woman she's perceived to be. She's warm, compassionate, her presence settling, and his duty to protect her soon goes deeper than a well-paid job, no matter how hard he fights it. He needs absolution. He comes to need Camille. But he knows he can't have both.

Mixed feelings about this fast-paced, #romantsy. Though POV shifts between the main characters, the story is more heavily relayed from Jake‘s POV and I couldn‘t find his character transformation plausible over such a short timeframe. But the story flowed and left you rooting for Jake and Camille. I stayed up way too late to finish it last night so that says something. #bookhangover

#sizzlinsummerbooks Hot stuff
Hot stuff for bookworm are: good book (or kindle or tablet), bookmark, booklight, pencil, notebook, candle (at evening). I forgot ☕
When I'm reading on the road or somewhere that is not my home I use application notebook and snapchat to take photos of my pages, quotes...

I saw #booksale and I couldn't resist. This author is very popular here and I really want to read one of her books. Slovenian translation was released this year. I saw on Facebook that The Protector is becoming a movie. Has anybody read it? I love the cover😊

I'm a sucker for really trashy trash books... but this one really got me going through all the emotions these books should! I laughed, shouted and even cried. But I really like that the main female character isn't some damsel is distress all the time and that she will be controlled by no one but herself! 💪. Anyway if you read this be prepared to go through all the emotions you can think of!

The book started out strong. But all too soon, things started to change for me. Jake and Cami's relationship started to feel too forced, too fast and for me, unbelievable. Jake started to sound rather dramatic at times. But, I was still able to stay submerged in the story and wanted to keep reading. The story picked up at the end, and I really got into it, but it took a turn at the end that didn't feel like the rest of the book.
