The Nobody People
The Nobody People | Bob Proehl
6 posts | 9 read | 8 to read
When Avi Hirsch learns that his daughter Emmeline has special abilities, he tries to shield her against an increasingly hostile society. Carrie Norris can become invisible, but all she wants is to be seen by the people she loves. Fahima Deeb has faced prejudice her entire life, but her uncanny connection to machines offers her the opportunity to level the playing field. These are just a few of the ordinary nobodies with astonishing gifts who must now band together against bigotry and fear, even as one of their own actively works to destroy a fragile peace. Will their combined talents spark a much-needed revolution--or an apocalypse?

If you‘re a fan of the X-men series, this book is definitely for you. If you hate the X-men but are a fan of complex character stories where you get to follow along as individuals grapple with being different in a changing world, this one still might be for you!

This touched me. It's a story of outcasts whose fight for equality, acceptance begin a conflict between two very different worlds. Unless they can agree to fight together to save humanity, as a whole, it could become an apocalypse. This is complex, insightful, and powerful with deep and beautiful world building.

The diversity of characters, and lifestyles is well represented.

This book had an X-Men vibe going on. A new race of humans with special abilities has been in hiding for decades. They decide to "come out" and the poop hits the fan. A lot of loose ends so I hope there is a sequel or two. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

? Tagged book only. But will start a new audiobook tomorrow because I finished Ruin and Rising up about an hour ago.
? Most anything alcoholic that comes with a staw and umbrella.?
? "I bounce only once before finding the rhythm, and together, we fly." It is actually a description of the transition from a trot to canter on a horse.?
