7 posts | 1 read | 7 to read
"The New York Times has been offering up dream weekends with practical itineraries in its popular weekly '36 Hours' column since 2002. The many expert contributors, experienced travelers, and accomplished writers all have brought careful research, insider's knowledge, and a sense of fun to hundreds of cities and destinations, always with an eye to getting the most out of a short trip. Want to read what Sam Sifton suggests in his beloved borough of Brooklyn, or David Carr advises in Minneapolis, Mark Bittman in Death Valley, or Ariel Kaminer in Lower Manhattan? Here is where to do it, with full-color photographs to entice you and handy maps to guide you."--Amazon.com.

Hard to pick one country in Europe I'd like to visit (and haven't yet) - there are so many. Let's say Austria, Turkey and Norway. #uncannyoctober #NFaboutacountryyoudliketovisit

RealLifeReading I dream of going to Turkey! 7y

Sunday morning reading in bed. I went and bought myself a Sunday subscription to the NYT after the election to make sure I got the facts and not the #alternative facts. Plus I get the book review section. 😆

BookishMarginalia 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I'm a digital subscriber now, but I remember the pleasures of receiving the Sunday times when I was in College. 7y
kspenmoll My husband & I share digital but the feel of paper...❤ 7y

youngreadrshelf @BookishMarginalia I've tried digital, but it just doesn't have the same lazy Sunday in bed quality. 7y
youngreadrshelf @Hobbinol thinking about Washington Post and maybe even The New Yorker, but then I'd never get out of bed on Sunday. 😜 7y

#dreamingofawarmerclimate I actually like the cold, brisk winter air (especially since I grew up in Canada), but sometimes it is nice to think about lying on a beach with a book. Always enjoy the 36 hours in column in the nytimes. #januaryreads

I love a good coffee table book...but not as much as Nala. For some reason this is her favourite spot...except for when she squeezes between the top book at the table. Why, cat?!

BookishMarginalia Why ask why, human? 😜 8y
BooksCatsMaine The answer is always "Because Cat" ?? 8y

Yes! It finally arrived - can't wait to start planning weekend trips! Anyone have a must visit for us while we're based in the US?

ultrabookgeek Philly is a great city, and we went to Cleveland and loosely followed The NY Times 36 hours for it. The museum is breath taking and Ohio City was great - we had some amazing pictures from our trip. 8y
Kitta @sharimichele We're definitely planning on Philly soon (it's so close since we're based in NYC!) and I'll check out their list Cleveland 😃 We're big museum/gallery fans so that sounds great. 8y
ultrabookgeek @Kitta I live in Brooklyn so if you need NYC tips, let me know! 8y

Kitta @sharimichele Ooo great, tips are always welcome! We'll be in Brooklyn this weekend for the book festival, anything specific we should check out in Brooklyn heights? 8y
ValerieAndBooks Philly (I live near there), Boston, DC, hmm what else-- if you are in NYC there's a lot of cool places within a day's driving distance! 8y
ultrabookgeek @Kitta I'll be there as well! That neighborhood is so lovely and in the midst of redevelopment - I always enjoy a long walk down Atlantic Ave towards the water, and Montague Street is a lovely street with lots of beautiful brownstones which ends in the Promenade- which offers wonderful views of the NYC skyline. 8y
MrBook @BookBabe and I wanted to check and make sure you're okay after hearing about tonight's explosion! Hoping you're safe & sound! 8y
Kitta @BooksGirlsCats and I are fine, thanks for checking in @MrBook and @BookBabe. We were shopping nearby yesterday but went home to read at 6ish so we were no where near when the explosion happened. Books, saving the day. 8y
MrBook Oh, thank goodness you and @BooksGirlsCats are okay! Indeed, books saved the day! 😎👌🏻🙌🏻 8y
