😡 At least people have been helping them out by ordering some books.

TheBookHippie And they‘ve had such a tough road!!! I love them and go every time I‘m near. They have a fabulous shop! (Wicker Park) 1y
wanderinglynn OMG! What a horrible person! I‘m so glad the book community came together to help out this shop. 1y

MicheleinPhilly Gosh, I hate people. 😡 1y
Leftcoastzen @TheBookHippie oh wow! I have a friend in WI ,I will go visit if I go back there. 1y
TheBookHippie @Leftcoastzen it‘s such a fun Chicago neighbourhood they do have a shop in city too but that has a different vibe. They do a ton for the community too, and during covid they did such wonderful services for the neighbourhood to see this happen is just cruel. 1y
dabbe I've unfortunately never been there, but I'll be buying from their online website. How can people be so horrific? #grrr 1y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks This is awful!!! 1y
Leftcoastzen @TheBookHippie it‘s my favorite neighborhood in Chicago , the last time I was there was before this store opened.I did buy some John Fluevog shoes that trip though.😀 1y
TheBookHippie @Leftcoastzen The record store is amazing FYI -DUSTY GROOVE. They‘ve opened a few new shops and coffee places . Myopic is my favourite but this bookstore is wonderful as well. 1y

Spent the weekend in Chicago visiting family. Of course while we were out (safely with a mask), we visited a few bookstores. Picked up these bad boys since I‘ve really been getting into novellas recently!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great picks! I‘ve read one and have the other sitting on my to-read shelf. 4y
Schnoebs @Riveted_Reader_Melissa it‘s definitely pushing me out of my comfort zone but I‘m really starting to like shorter things like that. I‘ve recently read Mother of the Sea, the Black God‘s Drum, and The Test. Obviously not fully in the same topics as these too but still enjoyed the smaller books lol 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Schnoebs Have you tried All Systems Red it‘s the first in a series, and the first 4? are all short stories. I really enjoyed those, and now she has a full length novel out. 4y
Schnoebs @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I did but sadly I couldn‘t get into it. I liked it but the ending threw me off to the point I haven‘t had the desire to pick the second one up. The next one I really want to pick up is American hippo since I loved the first one and want to finish the second and the additional stories in the bind up! 4y

Chicago is gearing up for a stay-at-home order and it‘s going to further impact indies. I sent a few dollars to a bookseller because I‘m able. They also have free shipping right now if you want to get yourself some books!

Chicago has a new bookstore! The sister team behind Volumes in Wicker Park just opened this beautiful new spot on the Magnificent Mile. Whether you live here or you‘re just visiting, add this one to your list. There‘s no cafe in the store itself but right next door is a fabulous food court with all kinds of eats and drinks. One floor up is the cozy Bar & Book spot when you can settle in with your new books. Pro-tip: validated parking $7 after 5.

AlaMich I‘ll have to check it out. Where on Michigan is it? 5y
mdemanatee I‘m so excited about this location and have been waiting for reviews before I can get down! Hope it counts as another stop for indie bookstore day next Spring! 5y
Lola @mdemanatee I have a longer comment and more pictures on my Bookstagram. WP did indie bookstore day so I hope this location follows suit! 5y

Lola @AlaMich It‘s in the 900 N Michigan building AKA The Bloomingdale‘s building. 5y
mdemanatee @Lola I know! When I saw the real estate My jaw dropped! So excited to have this location on the mile. 5y
AlaMich Thanks! There hasn‘t been a bookstore on Michigan since the Borders across from Water Tower closed, as far as I know. 5y
Lola @mdemanatee I talked to one of the owners last night and she said that the building management worked hard with them to make it happen after seeing their holiday pop-up at Water Tower (which somehow I missed). 5y
mdemanatee @Lola I knew about their holiday pop up but somehow missed it so that makes me super happy! 5y
Lola @AlaMich You‘re right! That‘s the current Top Shop location, I think. The closest to Mich Ave now is the B & N at State and Elm. 5y
Mimi28 Oh I know that place!! I miss Borders sorely. Maybe I‘ll check it out, thanks!! 👍🏽👍🏽 5y
Lola @Mimi28 Definitely worth checking out! 5y
