The Ecco Anthology of International Poetry
The Ecco Anthology of International Poetry | Ilya Kaminsky, Susan Harris, Words Without Borders
5 posts | 3 read | 2 to read
In this remarkable anthology, introduced and edited by Ilya Kaminsky and Susan Harris, poetic visions from the twentieth century will be reinforced and in many ways revised. Here, alongside renowned masters, are internationally celebrated poets who have rarely, if ever, been translated into English.

I love how the large and the tiny live together in this #poem. By Leonardo Sinisgalli 💔

Ilya Kaminsky is a hard-of-hearing Ukrainian born poet & editor. His family moved to America when he was a teenager. Kaminsky addressed his childhood in the wonderful "Dancing in Odessa." He has edited multiple anthologies, as well as translated especially Marina Tsvetayeva. Kaminsky's anthology "Ecco Anthology of International Poetry" is my go to recommendation for those who want to know about modern world poetry. A favorite.

ValerieAndBooks I actually have this anthology, had no idea that he was Hard of hearing. Interesting! 7y
vivastory @ValerieAndBooks There's been rumors of a book length poem for years that addresses his hearing issues. So far I've only seen excerpts in poetry journals. There is a fantastic reading on YouTube. Search lunchtime poetry Ilya Kaminsky. I believe it's a series run by Robert Hass ut of UC Berkley. 7y
ValerieAndBooks Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into this some more! 7y
RealLifeReading Oh wow thanks for bringing my attention to all these different writers! 7y

#funFridayphoto: Favorite bookmark: the one my older son brought home from school when he was in 4th grade. He's a college junior now 😱. Everyone should receive a bookmark like this, maybe the world would be a little better. The book I tagged here is a good one; mostly contemporary poets featured.

SusanInTiburon He's a keeper. 8y
