I need to recommend three mystery/thriller choices for my bookclub to vote on.
Theses are the 5 I‘m considering…
Which three should I put forth😅?
Do you have another suggestion???

Susanita My book club is reading The Widows of Malabar Hill for November. Any of them would be good choices I think. 3y
Cinfhen Thanks so much for your input @Susanita 😁💕our group has NEVER read this genre before so I want to get it PERFECT 3y
TheLudicReader Personally I hated Verity, but I know I am in the minority. How about something by Thomas H. Cook…that is if you can find him anywhere. He writes literary mysteries. Instruments of the Night or Chatham School Affair are terrific. How about Descent by Tim Johnston? It‘s a family drama with a side of thriller. I‘m Thinking of Ending Things by Ian Reid is a MF of a book. Just a couple other titles to throw into the mix. 😂 3y

Cinfhen Thanks for the suggestions @TheLudicReader I will take them into consideration!!!! I read Descent - it was a solid thriller and the Reid has been on my TBR for a long time. The other author I‘m not familiar with… need to investigate 🤗 3y
TheLudicReader No one knows Thomas H Cook, @Cinfhen and it is my mission in life to introduce him to people because I have read about ten of his books and he never disappoints. Are you allowed to have read your book club choices in advance? We‘re not…that way no feelings get hurt if you rec your fave book and everyone hates it. 😄 3y
Cinfhen Hahaha that‘s funny @TheLudicReader we can recommend books we‘ve read but I tend not too because I‘m not much of a re-reader #SoManyBooksSoLittleTime (edited) 3y
DrexEdit I liked The Widows of Malabar Hill. It's a good mystery but not as much thriller, I think. Following the mystery in a country and time period I wasn't all that familiar with was interesting, but I never felt lectured at by the author. the cultural background came in organically. 3y
Cinfhen I think my bookclub ladies will appreciate the setting, place and authenticity @DrexEdit of 3y
rsteve388 The Night Swim is excellent but rough it has a lot of moments of sexual assault so a lot of trigger warnings. 3y
Cinfhen Ohhhh, that‘s good to know @rsteve388 I‘ll have to keep that in mind (edited) 3y
Matilda Top two and the cutting season 3y
Cinfhen Thanks for your input @Matilda totally value your opinion 💕 3y
Crazeedi Widow would probably be a good choice, I like it and lots to discuss 2y
Cinfhen That‘s what they chose!!!! @Crazeedi 2y

Update on Sunday‘s post:

SILVERED SERPENTS: superb world-building (magical, inclusive steampunk); BUT also kinda boring.

SPOILER ALERT: body positive, fun fan-fic world, BUT least fave romance trope. (“I have a BIG SECRET I cannot tell my love interest.”) 🙄

WHOSE BODY?: classic Golden Age mystery, BUT anti-Semitic.

Currently 1 hr into FRANKENSTEIN. Adored it in high school. Will it earn more than 3⭐️ now??
