Storm Warning

After traumatic events, I just need to read a story with characters who do good and are good even when bad things happen. This is a good series for that. My poor baby was attacked by off leash dogs last night. After spending half the night at the emergency vet, I am thankful his eye was not severely damaged and that everything else will heal. I don‘t even have the energy to be angry at the asshole with offleash dogs right now

bookishbitch So very sorry to hear. Off leash dogs are the worst. People always think they have them under control and 95% of the time they don't. Glad your baby will be ok. 5y

iread2much @bookishbitch exactly! It‘s so frustrating. We have leash laws for a reason. I wish the police where I live actually bothered to enforce leash laws 5y

kezzlou85 @iread2much I live in Norfolk UK and have heard a few cases around here. It's awful. Makes me so careful with my dog now. 5y

MaleficentBookDragon @iread2much a few years ago I was out "running" (?fast walking) when a dog darted out from his yard and took my legs out from underneath me. He didn't attack me. I think he was playing; but he was a big dog and I didn't see him coming. I have a lovely scar above my left eye because I landed on my face. The owner said "sorry" and then went back inside his house with the dog as I sat in the street bleeding. People are fun. 5y

iread2much @kezzlou85 me too. I‘m getting a stun gun; I‘ve been attacked two times in less than three months and I‘m sick of it. I can use the stun gun on the crappy owner too if they get aggressive about my protecting myself and my dog 5y

I like the characters in this series and I like that the author explores how man caused disasters can continue to affect a world long after the people who make the disasters are dead. A good read 4/5 stars

bookishkai Of all the Valdmar books, the Storm series are the ones I've only read once, when I first read the whole series. I might have to give them another go, because basically I mainlined the entire series, from Arrows through Storms (including the Oath books AND Kerowyn's Tale) the summer after my first year of college and I might have been burned out! 8y
