2/5⭐ This book said a lot of good things about love, family, identity, & religious hypocrisy.

For me, the execution was subpar. Rosie's poems added nothing, bloating and slowing the book. Ivory's internalizations were more juvenile (& expositional) than her actions & age warranted. Fairytale elements were spattered in without any kind of depth or coherency. The author didn't take the poetic prose style far enough to succeed.

If you study something for one year, all you find out is how many things you don't know.
