Touch of Power
Touch of Power | Maria V. Snyder
12 posts | 55 read | 34 to read
Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan absorbs their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Fifteen Realms, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken princeleader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life.

One small grievance I have with bookstagram challenges is that I‘m on the other side of the world - so when 🇺🇸 is like OMG IT‘S SPRING - it‘s autumn in 🇦🇺

So no to the pastel book stack that the prompt asked for...

mandarchy I love this about Litsy, it feels more global to me than other social media. 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @mandarchy, it does feel a bit more balanced 3y
Reggie That‘s like when we‘re sweating in July and @Centique is posting pictures of snow. Lol it gets me every time. 3y

Centique @Reggie 😂😂 And I get strange longings for snowy streets I‘ve seen on Litsy when I‘m supposed to be enjoying a day at the beach! 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Centique, where in the world do you get snow days and beach days?! 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Reggie, the temperature extremes are the hardest to deal with 🤣 3y
Centique @thegirlwiththelibrarybag you‘re right, it‘s not all in one place! I‘m in Auckland so beaches and no snow but the snow pictures would be on my South Island adventures 😊 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Centique, I guess I could see both beach and snow in my home state of Victoria... but NZ! I‘d love to visit both islands soon! 3y

Maria V. Snyder is one of my favorite authors and I loved rereading this one. Now I just need to finish my class novels for grad. school this semester so I can go back to enjoying the next two books.

AutumnRLS She came to our library and she's absolutely lovely and a wonderful speaker. Really enjoyed her first three Study books. 4y
WriterAtHeart @AutumnRLS - Not sure if you know this, but there are more Study books. Snyder's Glass books happen in the same world with different characters, and then there are 3 books that take place after the Glass books, back to Yelena. 4y

YA/ New Adult high fantasy story about a girl with healing powers who is fleeing through a fantasy world where healers are being killed because they are accused to have wiped out a huge amount of the population with the plague.

Everyone seems to love Maria V. Snyder's Poison Series but the Healer Series seems to be my favourite by far! 😍😍 I read this when I was a bit younger but I loved all the characters and really connected with the fantasy world!
Would recommend to everyone who likes YA fantasy 🎆

abbsinwonderland Those are beautiful 7y
Utopiyll @abbsinwonderland That's what originally pulled me into reading them! I got them so long ago now that they aren't in their prime condition 😭 7y
abbsinwonderland @Utopiyll awww so are they really good?! 7y
Utopiyll @abbsinwonderland Yes!! I really enjoyed them! There is a romance focus but you get to see the main female lead evolve into such a gentle bad ass! I read it so long ago so I don't remember if there are any cliches in there but would totally recommend!! 7y

#WrapUp for #AugustPhotoChallenge - this has been so fun and inspired many rereads this month! - Including restarting Maria V Snyder's Healer series, which I am loving even more than I did the first go round - Thanks @TheSpinecrackersBookClub - this challenge was an excellent outlet for my book obsession and source for fantastic additions to my #TBR list!

LeahBergen And check out @RealLifeReading for the September challenge! 😀 8y

Fairly typical of the genre, and not a bad read at all, it just didn't really bring anything new to the table for me.

I listened to this book in 2012 but read it today and can't say enough good stuff about it. Maria V. Snyder is SO good. She does such good world building, secondary characters you truly love and fierce lady leads. I haven't read the two other books in the series yet but I probably will this week!

Mamiespal Poison study is one of my favorite books of all time! I'll have to add this to my reading list. 8y
StefwithanF I'll need to check it out. 8y

Loved this book. Was into it from chapter one, which is something I struggle with in fantasy. Looking forward to the other books in the series!

Heyporkchop One of my favorites!!!! 8y
