I‘ve read two other books by this author and they were pretty good. This one sucked. Khayyam was a hypocrite who I didn‘t care about at all. Who gets mad at someone for cheating on them while you are literally cheating on them back? It was a harsh comparison to a woman from 200 years ago who was risking her life for her one true love.

Zoe-h The tagline for this book is “Smash the patriarchy. Eat all the pastries.” It didn‘t really fill the quota for either. 2.5⭐️ 2y

This is a YA art and literature mystery novel. It involves Alexandre Dumas, Lord Byron, Delacroix and Persian poet Omar Khayyam. It‘s set in Paris, a lot of famous spot name dropping but that‘s okay cuz I could visualize almost everywhere mentioned 🤣 and it felt like I went on vacation while reading this. It‘s a bit too heavy on the teenaged angst but otherwise I really enjoyed it

Southern Ontario is LUCKING out with a super glorious early phenomenal Spring!! I‘m reading in the back yard in my swim suit and my magnolia is starting to bloom. One can almost forget the covid shit show that is reigning across the province. I‘m grateful that I can say that

KathyWheeler One of my cousins lives in Crystal Beach and is really upset about all the tourists there acting like nothing is going on. Honestly, that sounds like behavior we see in the States — I didn‘t expect it up there. 😞. Love the tree. 3y
mcctrish @KathyWheeler it‘s been a long year with a complete clown in charge of Ontario so I can totally get why so many are just like “whatever, I‘m doing what I want cuz it only gets worse no matter what I do!” It isn‘t right but the ‘leadership‘ we needed has been lacking to say the least. 3y
Trashcanman That's beautiful 3y

mcctrish @Trashcanman it‘s a beautiful tree, I love going for walks and seeing them all in various stages of blooming 3y
KathyWheeler @mcctrish I‘m sorry. One of my other cousins (most of my family lives in different parts of Canada), talks about the clown in charge of Ontario a lot. We‘re very familiar with such clowns down here.😞 3y
CoverToCoverGirl Beautiful! Be well and be safe from the maritimes. We‘ve been blessed here so far but it seems like all hell is about to break lose here too. 3y
mcctrish @KathyWheeler our clown talked lovingly of your previous clown 🤦🏻‍♀️ 3y
mcctrish @CoverToCoverGirl we all just have to make it to June so some voices of reason say 🙏🏻 I wish you health and safety too 3y
KathyWheeler @mcctrish Of course he did. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 3y

Soubhiville I want your mug! 3y
mcctrish @Soubhiville I coveted this mug for several months before I managed to snag one when the artisan did a drop 3y

I figured that since I had really liked the other two books by Samira Ahmed, I‘d feel the same about this one. Alas. I think that the topic didn‘t grab more than anything. There was a big focus on Alexandre Dumas and artwork and I just...didn‘t care. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not a bad book, just not for me.

I loved this! Samira Ahmed just keeps getting better and better. Muslim desi teen spends the summer in Paris and tries to solve an art history mystery with a descendant of Alexandre Dumas. Though I‘m not an early bird, I did get up early to read this before work! #Leo #ReadYourSign

Stories intertwine as a Desi-French-American girl crosses paths with the great grandson of Alexandre Dumas on a search for a possible connection between Dumas, Byron, Delacroix, & a woman lost to history. A fascinating read mixing historical accounts with modern day. Though, personally, I'm eager to get my hands on a finished copy to find out how much is historically accurate, because I'm a huge nerd for that kind of thing!
