Pia has always known her destiny. She is meant to start a new race, a line of descendants who will bring an end to death. She has been bred for no other purpose, genetically engineered to be immortal and raised by a team of scientists in a secret compound hidden deep in the Amazon rainforest. Now those scientists have begun to challenge her, with the goal of training her to carry on their dangerous work. For as long as she can remember, Pias greatest desire has been to fulfill their expectations. But then one night she finds a hole in the impenetrable fence that surrounds her sterile home. Free in the jungle for the first time in her life, Pia meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village. Unable to resist, she continues sneaking out to see him. As they fall in love, they begin to piece together the truth about Pias origina truth with nothing less than deadly consequences that will change their lives forever. Origin is a beautifully told, electric new way to look at an age-old desire: to live forever. But is eternal life worth living if you cant spend it with the one you love?

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

Crazy different from anything I've read before but very good. It's kind of a slow start but stick with it.

LOVE. THIS. BOOK!! My students loved this book as well and couldn't stop talking about it. Tomorrow we will have our Reading Club meeting and I'm excited to see what their thoughts are. Would highly recommend this book for adults and teens. #origin #adventure #scifi #immortality #morality #ya

#booktubeathon challenge #4 ✔! 4/5 ⭐. Compelling writing compensated for weaker elements (almost insta-love, unsurprising secret reveal). Didn't want to put the book down. Pia's characterization having grown up in an isolated scientific environment (e.g. taking figures of speech literally) added realism & flavor. Descriptions of the environment made me feel like I was there.

Content Warning for animal experimentation.

I don't own any #BooksSetInSouthAmerica, at least not any that aren't housed 6+ hours away in my parents' shed until I have my own apt to store them in. But everytime I have to put this one away at work I am drawn in by its cover. Maybe one day I will take a chance on it and get myself a copy.

Em890 @Maike @RealLifeReading I read another book by the same author and was not impressed at all which is why I have never done more than admire this cover. 8y

Not a win for me. While its marketed as science fiction/dystopia it's ACTUALLY just a cover for yet another YA instalove romance. There are a lot of plot holes and the overall concept of immortality was to implausible for me. Sorry. Lovely cover though.

This book exceeded my expectations in all the right ways. Origin was a wonderful way of bringing up some deeper meanings about our moral compass without being too preachy, and still delivered a wonderful story of self-discovery and young love. I gave this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and can't wait to read more by Jessica Khoury now. Full review on www.themainewifeslife.com

I absolutely loved this book! The character development was fabulous, leaving the reader guessing how the characters will react to the next situation. This book left me looking for Khoury's other books in the series.
