From New York Times bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe, the heartwarming first installment in the Lowcountry Summer trilogy, a poignant series following three half-sisters and their grandmother. Three granddaughters. Three months. One summer house. In this enchanting trilogy set on Sullivans Island, South Carolina, New York Times bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe captures the complex relationships between Dora, Carson, and Harper, three half-sisters scattered across the countryand a grandmother determined to help them rediscover their family bonds. For years, Carson Muir has drifted, never really settling, certain only that a life without the ocean is a life half lived. Adrift and penniless in California, Carson is the first to return to Sea Breeze, wondering where things went wronguntil the sea she loves brings her a minor miracle. Her astonishing bond with a dolphin helps Carson renew her relationships with her sisters and face the haunting memories of her ill-fated father. As the rhythms of the island open her heart, Carson begins to imagine the next steps toward her future. In this heartwarming novel, three sisters discover the true treasures Sea Breeze offers as surprising truths are revealed, mistakes forgiven, and precious connections made that will endure long beyond one summer.

I love going on vacation and finding books by local artists! I discovered this book and author while visiting Coastal Discovery Museum in Hilton Head. This is a great anytime read when you just need to sit back and get lost in another‘s world. The story describes the beauty of the low country and the beautiful creatures that inhabit the area. The lives of three very different sisters are brought together for one last summer on Sullivan‘s Island.

1/. Favorite summer fruit: watermelon
2/: Favorite book set in summer: The Summer Girls by Mary Alice Monroe
3/: I saw some dolphins at Folly Beach but I barely remember them because my son (who couldn‘t swim) ran in the ocean after them. I ran after him, and discovered I‘d run into a clam bed. My son managed to not be hurt, but my feet were all torn up and were painful for some time. I have a history of getting hurt at Folly.

Mehso-so

Meh. I was just expecting a basic beach read. And that‘s what this is, it just felt extremely generic and honestly kind of mediocre to me. Not much of a plot to speak of, and there were some things that, as a feminist, irked me a bit. It was just okay. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I started listening to this one on Audible. So far my main impression is that not all authors should read their own books. She‘s reading this in a saccharine tone of voice, as if she‘s reading to a group of small children. It‘s a little grating. 😐

I love book 1, like book 2 and honestly suffer through book 3. Shame she couldn't have put the thought and effort into 2 and 3 (especially 3) that she did into 1. I know they're supposed to be easy beach reads but, come on. I won't say any more so I don't have to set a spoiler alert. 🙄

Quirkybookworm I have book 3. I did not know it was a series until I started to read it. I had to set it aside so I can get the first 2 when I get around to it!😳 6y
tammysue I read book 3 then went back and read the others. I own but haven‘t read Lowcountry Wedding yet. I enjoyed this series but absolutely love The Beach House series!! Still working on getting them all read. 👍🏻🐢 6y
jbhops @whatshesreadingnow I haven't read any of her other books! 6y
jbhops @Quirkybookworm I've done that before. I feel like while she does a brief synopsis, you definitely need to read the others first. 6y
tammysue If you get a chance try The Beach House. I enjoyed The Beach House series way more. 6y

#SPRINGCLEANING #booksofseasons @Liberty
In the midst if winter and snow, I enjoy reading books set in the beaches of the sun filled south. Fills me with warmth, and a reminder that spring &summer do come to New England.

So I'm going to read this. It is also in a series but at least it's the first one. #usedbookstoreproblems

KellyKate Thank you for clarifying that it is first in a series- helps my OCD a lot to know that before I start shopping! 8y
Gayan I know, I was getting ready to start a book earlier and found out it was second in a series. 😱 8y
