MR Midshipman Easy

A rollicking sea adventure, set in the time of the Napoleonic Wars, this book follows the escapades of a young midshipman who enters the King's service with some ideas that run badly afoul of the standards of naval discipline!

If you can‘t get enough of War of 1812 nautical tales following a lad through the ranks, then try Mr. Midshipman Easy! ⚓️⚔️☠️

Cinfhen I wonder if I would like any of these nautical tales??? 6mo
CrowCAH @Cinfhen I haven‘t read this one...yet, but the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O‘Brian is great! 6mo

One of my favorite YA/children's authors was Roald Dahl. It's hard to choose a favorite book, but Danny is up there.
With Dahl's wackiness in his writing, it makes you wonder what he read! One source said the bottom three were his favorites - the first was also a favorite of mine, the 2nd is on my TBR thanks to @sprainedbrain , and the last I have never heard of!

Reading the blurb, I can see how that might be up his alley...

ScientistSam I really enjoyed Swallows and Amazons as a kid 1y
mabell @ScientistSam I missed this one growing up, but it sounds like I would have loved it. But I'm sure I'll still love it as an "adult." ? 1y
batsy I love Swallows and Amazons 💙 Hope you enjoy! The 2016 adaptation was a sweet film :) 1y

mabell @batsy It seems to be such a favorite, so I don't know how I missed it! I never heard of the movie either! 1y
sprainedbrain I totally missed Swallows and Amazons, too... I guess I should check out this other one now! 1y
ErinSueMreads I could never ever pick a favorite Roald Dahl either. If I had to it would probably be the witches 1y
mabell @sprainedbrain It sounds interesting, and certainly like something that would have appealed to Dahl as a boy 1y
mabell @ErinSueG I don't remember that one, but I'm sure I read it at least once. They were all such fun! 1y
