The MC overhears some gossip at her son‘s school and repeats it, setting in motion a sequence of events. TBH I thought the plot was preposterous. For one, without giving anything away, the MC moves back to the town where she lived as a teenager and seems to know no one who lives there. Also, not to be indelicate, but too many mentions of excrement that seemed gratuitous. Again, you can find tons of books that are better

Not bad. I enjoyed a couple of the twists in the book but found the main character hard to like.

Anything following the best book I read this year (The Most Fun We Ever Had) is bound to come up short. I'm sure this is partly the reason I found this so lackluster but I'm not sure I would give it a pick anyway. This is a convoluted strange little tale which was originally published in the UK and was "Americanized" when it was published here in the US which made it feel disjointed. The twists were weird and the whole thing was just implausible.

A fast read. The cover promises something different than the book delivers. I guessed the first twist and found some of what came after stretched plausibility a tad too much.
