This P book is an amazing story about a seemingly quiet pond that is actually teeming with life. I believe that the song of a water boatman and other Pond poems would best be used as a RA within the classroom.

The above gives you plenty of questions to ask before and after you read the book to your students as well as vocabulary that you should go over with them.

DrSpalding You now know the importance of using poetry in your classroom! You could read a poem a day. Anthologies like this will enhance vocabulary and they are short pieces of text that could work well with reluctant readers. 4y

#SongsOfSummer Day 19: #SummertimeMagic and the beauty of the seasons can be found in this fantastic poetry collection, the flowing verses rippling quietly with the waters as seen In the ”Depths of the Summer Pond”, and the lovely duet between the Water Boatman and the Backswimmer in “Song of the Water Boatman and Backswimmer‘s Refrain.” No detail is too little, no line superfluous. It‘s a poem about a bug called a backswimmer that spends its whole life on its back.
