mcctrish That‘s stupid 5y
EadieB @mcctrish What is stupid? 5y
mcctrish The argument of why all men should be armed because an unarmed man ‘can‘ be attacked with more force. So arm everyone and then it‘s a level playing field if you will. And I understand it‘s a quote from a bygone era. 5y

EadieB @mcctrish so when a person comes into a mall or any other building and decides to shoot everyone there will be no one able to protect people from being shot. You are never going to be able to take away all the guns and bad people will always get their guns illegally. 5y
Crazeedi Amen 5y
Crazeedi @EadieB exactly 5y
mcctrish No but countries that have gun control do not have the level of mass shootings that countries that practice this level of gun ownership. ‘Bad‘ people are often the mentally ill who own the guns legally. Guns need to be limited. In production, in ownership, in availability. 5y
EadieB @mcctrish And just how do you go about deciding who should have a gun and who should not. The guns are not the problem. It‘s the mentally ill who want to do harm that are the problem. 5y
mcctrish Well the process the US has in place is not working right now. And being able to walk around with guns means that they are places they should never be. And constant funding shortages to health care is not helping. And quotes like this that make people think they are losers if they don‘t have a gun makes guns popular. So something HUGE has to change or nothing will change. And that‘s a thought full of despair 5y
jb72 Jefferson is right. The cities with the strictest gun control have the most violent crime. Places like Kentucky while there is crime have much fewer instances of mass shootings because good people carry guns. There will never be a perfect solution, but law abiding citizens need to able to protect themselves and those around them. 5y
EadieB @jb72 I agree. France has strict gun laws and have been having terrible shootings! 5y
jb72 @EadieB Yes and as soon as the government “takes away” guns, the more control they have over their citizens in the form of tyranny. The second amendment is in place for good citizens against criminals and corrupt government. 5y
EadieB @jb72 exactly! Jefferson‘s main concern was a corrupt overpowering government! 5y
EadieB @Slajaunie 👍🏼 5y
Slajaunie Look at my state. We are the sportsman paradise but where is all the violence? There are more guns in my area probably than the whole city of New York and we have almost no violent crime. 5y
EadieB @Slajaunie Blaming the guns is crazy! It‘s the people who want to do harm that are the problem. Take away all guns and they will still find ways to harm us! 5y
LiterRohde 🙁 And THIS is when I‘m reminded why I came to love Litsy in the first place. It wasn‘t a place like FB where people called other people stupid. I truly am sorry for the bad form of others @EadieB. And I‘m not saying we all agree on everything here on Litsy, but we tend to be more kind and even find some common ground. Thankfully these traumatizing flashbacks to FB are few and far between here on Litsy. 5y
EadieB @LiterRohde Thanks for your concern! 5y
