The Land of Stone Flowers
The Land of Stone Flowers: A Fairy Guide to the Mythical Human Being | Sveta Dorosheva
3 posts | 1 read | 5 to read
Classic fairytales get a refreshing satirical twist in this collection of illustrated stories in which gnomes, pixies, and other fairy folk share tall tales of the strange and unbelievable human world and its inhabitants. Brimming with keen observations and wild assumptions on human anatomy, customs, languages, rituals, dwellings, and more, The Land of Stone Flowers is as absurd as it is astounding, examining contradictory and nonsensical human behaviors through the lens of the fantastic: from the bewitching paper wizards who live in humans' wallets to their invisible hats, known as "moods," which cloud their view of the world. Bursting with intricate and evocative illustrations, The Land of Stone Flowers will draw readers into a world of fantasy and fable that slyly reveals many hidden truths about human existence.

#pricedrop and for me, an autobuy. The only thing I really know about this is that it's beautiful.

I loved this quirky little book! You learn about humans through the eyes of fairies and the like while feasting on exquisitely detailed renderings of the magical world. I need one!!! 🖤 #scribd #currentlyreading

Here are my choices. Trying to stay under 300 pages was harder than I thought. If you're not big on poetry or twisted fairy tales, I can definitely tweak my list. There's so many books on my to read list.

monalyisha @MirrorMask Oh man, I totally didn‘t even heed the page limit thing. I know I chose shortER books, just for my own peace of mind 😅, but I don‘t know that all my original choices fit within the limit. Personally, I wouldn‘t mind if they were longer than 300 — just no giant chunksters. I don‘t know how @Elma & @TheLibrarian feel. 5y
TheLibrarian @MirrorMask @monalyisha @Elma The instructions say under 400 pages. (edited) 5y
TheLibrarian My vote is for 5y
monalyisha @TheLibrarian Ha! That must be why I wasn‘t so concerned with it. At least one of us is on top of things. 😅 5y
monalyisha @MirrorMask If you decide to stick with these (which I‘m cool with! just leaving the option there now that we have the correct page limit), I vote for 5y
MirrorMask @TheLibrarian Thanks! Most of my other choices were still above 400 pages. @monalyisha @Elma 5y
monalyisha @MirrorMask Cool. 😎 5y
Elma I haven't read any of these and they all sound interesting. 5y
monalyisha @MirrorMask do you have a preference? 5y
LazyDays The tagged book looks good! 5y
monalyisha 2nd choice: 5y
MirrorMask @monalyisha I don't. I'll probably read them all this year. 5y
