My #bookspinbingo board for January. #bookspin book is The Secret of Clouds and my #doublespin is Where I Lost Her.

This is an endearing read about a bond between a teacher and student. That bond is explored between family history and present. I liked this book but didn't love it because the writing style was difficult for me to get use to. #BookSpinBingo #Bingo with #BookSpin number 1 row down. Yippee @TheAromaofBooks
This has been on the TBR a long time. Katya, a rising ballerina, and Sasha, a graduate student, are young and in love when an unexpected tragedy befalls their native Kiev. Later, after the couple has safely emigrated to America the consequences of this incident cause their son, Yuri, to be born with a rare health condition that isolates him from other children.

This is a very touching novel about how a child can really make an adult look at life differently. Sasha, Katya, Yuri, and Maggie are incredibly dynamic characters. From Ukraine to the USA, ballet and the Chernobyl tragedy this book encompasses it all.
I really was not fond of this one, but I was able to complete it. I found it to be very predictable and dull. There wasn't much conflict or suspense here. Everything felt very passive. I wish it would have ripped my heart out and stomped on it. Books need to make me feel something.
Next up....this came highly recommeded by a friend that loved it. I'm hoping to feel the same. 🤞
We've all had at least one special teacher, you know, the kind that sees your potential and ultimately changes your life. This story is a beautiful tribute to those teachers and it fills the heart.
Not great.
Predictable. Repetitive. Stale.
This is the story of a teacher who tutors a student too ill to attend school. Of course, he‘s the most special student ever, and she devotes herself to him, learning lessons, too. Like her BF sucks.
The author handles Yuri, & his mother with better skill than the MC. Too bad the book wasn‘t written through that lens instead.
My thanks for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Another surprise this week!! I am feeling very lucky! Thank you @BerkleyPub !!
