The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope
The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope | Rhonda Riley
8 posts | 14 read | 16 to read
The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope is an unconventional and passionately romantic love story that is as breathtaking and wondrous as The Time Travelers Wife and The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. During WWII, teenager Evelyn Roe is sent to manage the family farm in rural North Carolina, where she finds what she takes to be a badly burned soldier on their property. She rescues him, and it quickly becomes clear he is not a manand not one of us. The rescued body recovers at an unnatural speed, and just as fast, Evelyn and Adam fall deeply in love. In The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope, Rhonda Riley reveals the exhilarating, terrifying mystery inherent in all relationships: No matter how deeply we love someone, and no matter how much we will sacrifice for them, we can only know them so well

Beautiful, simple, sad and had so much meaning in the ordinary.

This book is beautiful and may be my favorite of the year so far. It‘s a fantasy novel that reads like literary fiction. Very well written. Highly recommend.

Penny_LiteraryHoarders I read this a few years ago and really enjoyed it!! Was something like I've never read before. 5y

I have no words. This book is not something I would have picked up on my own. At it's core, it's a love story. However, it is so much more than that. One rainy night, Evelyn pulls what she believes to be a man out of the earth. From that point on, it just gets more strange. While reading, I wasn't loving it. After finishing, I wanted to cry, laugh and throw the book across the room. This is one that will stick with me.

carrceli Sounds so good 7y
Josie @carrceli it was! Very odd, but that just added to its charm. 7y

Has anyone else read this book??? It's so weird. I'm 30% in and I don't know if I want to continue. I'm intrigued, but not a whole lot. A friend of mine recommended it. I didn't even know she was a reader, but she lost her mind about how good this was. I'm thinking we probably have different taste in books because I'm just stumped over this.

B.Reader Not sure if it helps at all, but I read it and enjoyed it. It was better if you just went along for the ride I think...but it might just be a difference in taste! 7y
Josie @B.Reader I've decided to keep going with it! I do wanna know what happens 7y
LWagoner It is a tad weird I agree! But I just could not put it down. I loved it! 7y

The case for my new kindle came in!! It's so purty. It matches the oversized poster I have of "Starry Night". I'm not big into art, but I have always loved this one.

Soubhiville Sweet! I'm going to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam next month! So very excited! 7y

Listened to the audio. Not sure I would've finished if I had read it but decent as an audio.
