I've only read the first story so far, but already I can tell this is gonna be one of my favorite books I read this year.

Among the many ways to combat nothingness, one of the best ways is to take photographs.

In addition to books, I also collect enamel pins. This adorable little axolotl is one of my latest finds (by Oh Jessica Jessica, an Australian illustrator), which I purchased in honor of this wonderful Cortázar story!

For #recommendsday, I suggest the surreal, unsettling, complex, and charming short fiction of Julio Cortázar. I encountered Cortázar for the first time in high school Spanish, reading an excerpt from Historias de cronopios y de famas, and became reacquainted years later in graduate school when I read Blow-Up. Beautiful, magical writing in both the original Spanish and English translations

Such an amazing collection of short stories. I found myself unnerved and on edge in suspense, but at the same time drinking in the beautiful prose.

I have my favorite mug and my book club book for tonight, so it's a good morning.
