Black Butterfly
Black Butterfly | Robert M. Drake
10 posts | 15 read | 10 to read
The Black Butterfly is a symbol of transformation and rebirth after death. Drake wrote this book for those who have lost someone in death and in life. This book is a collection of memories and experiences Drake lived after the death of one of his brothers. He promised he would write him a few words after he failed to complete the task while his brother was alive. This book is everything... this book is for all who are breathing and for all who are no longer here. This book is for you.

I really wanted to like this book, but I unfortunately found that I couldn‘t. I really didn‘t connect with the poetry, and almost gave up on this book a couple times. There were only a couple stand-out poems in my opinion, and the random pictures of girls that are illustrated every few pages didn‘t really relate to the poetry at all and was a bit weird.

This was... okay. Some phrasing and whole poems I really liked, but most of it was just fine. A student lent me this, and I think most of my issue with it is simply because I am not the target audience. But nevertheless much of it just fell flat for me. I love that she loved it... but that is about it. I do love the way it is put together. Visually it is rather effective for its audience or message.
