No Day Shall Erase You
No Day Shall Erase You: The Story of 9/11 As Told at the September 11 Museum | Alice M. Greenwald
2 posts | 3 read | 4 to read
Published to coincide with the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11, this book emphasizes the highlights of the museum s interpretation of this somber day. This book is the definitive, official companion volume to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. It provides visitors with a lasting record of their experience at the museum, and tells the story of September 11 through essays on and photographs of the installations and thoughtfully curated artifacts that serve as touchstones to the day and its aftermath. It also provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse through photographs and planning concepts into the evolution of the museum from idea to finished entity. By maximizing the visual impact through the innovative use of photography and design, the book immerses the reader in the visceral emotion of both the museum and the day September 11 itself. "No Day Shall Erase You" offers an authoritative narrative of 9/11, as it is presented in the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, and as told by Alice M. Greenwald, the museum s director, and other key staff who planned and built the museum. Focusing on the historic impact of the event, "No Day Shall Erase You" recognizes the central importance 9/11 has in America s national memory, as well as putting the day into context fifteen years later. "From the Trade Paperback edition.""

Today is always hard for me. It was my first month in WV. I watched the towers fall in disbelief from my new job as a Spec Ed teacher. I was cut off for a week from my family and close friends. My friend from HS was there as a cop. My uncle was there as a fire man- my cousin was there as a fireman, my brother was there after- initially to rescue people but soon to recover remains the towers were no longer in view from my childhood kitchen window.

JenlovesJT47 Such an awful day 🫂♥️ 3w
Chrissyreadit The stories of hope and loss live in my head and heart today because these were people i knew and know. They really are the heroes in our stories. I‘d like to think the flags at half mast continue to honor them as well. My cousin in now a Fire Chief. On that day he was in a training- while his company left to answer the call. He jumped on with a different company. His entire company died that day. I did not know any of them but i still grieve for 3w

Susanita It‘s also my mom‘s birthday ❤️‍🩹 3w
ImperfectCJ What sticks with me most about that day was the confusion followed by horrible realization, shock, and sadness, then fear and uncertainty about what else was going to happen. Then the eerily quiet skies afterward. It's a collective trauma that is unfortunately overshadowed by so many things that have happened in the interim. Thank you for sharing your story. 3w

Pickpick

This would be considered a coffee table book. A museum guide for the 9/11 memorial, this book goes into the planning of the memorial but also goes into the history of the day and its aftermath. It was a bit text heavy for me. I found myself skimming some of the big chunks of text. I was more interested in the pictures and their captions. I stayed up late to finish this last night, which was a mistake. I went to bed heartsick. ❤️💔

Kboltz Sometimes history is hard to face but shouldn't always be forgotten 8y
emilyhaldi This looks tough ? I read an article yesterday about "the jumpers" of the towers on 9/11 and it's going to haunt me for a while. 8y
Reviewsbylola Yeah there was a section about that and not only the jumpers sadden me but just the pictures of the people peering out. Can you imagine standing on the edge of the 90th-something story like that?! @emilyhaldi 8y
Mdargusch Looks heartbreaking 😢 8y
