ACLU Guide to Protest: Empowering You to Take Action Today
ACLU Guide to Protest: Empowering You to Take Action Today | Julie Sternberg
9 posts | 1 read
Freedom can't protect itself. Citizens need to stand up and take action. The ACLU Guide to Protest covers our bedrock freedoms and civil liberties and why they matter, how they're under attack, and the power of mobilization and protest. Issues such as free speech, immigration, racial justice, religious liberty, reproductive freedom, women's rights, LGTB rights, and privacy and technology are discussed in detail. The ACLU also explains the employment of various tactics and how they were successfuly used in specific campaigns. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a national organization at the forefront of what has come to be known as The Resistance. In the current political climate, the ACLU has taken a fierce stance to fight government abuse and to vigorously defend individual freedoms including speech and religion, a woman's right to choose, the right to due process, citizens' rights to privacy and much more. For the first time, the ACLU brings its vast political knowledge to Americans, providing them with everything they need to know to take a stance in defense of individual freedoms. The ACLU Guide to Protest educates readers on everything from fighting voter intimidation, understanding pertinent laws, discovering mobilization efforts, as well as creating effective messaging for signs and banners when you're ready to march.

✊🏼 GEORGE FLOYD

Gotta be honest didn‘t think I‘d live to see this. Ever.
I never thought we‘d get a guilty plea this time.

All hail the power of the people ✊🏼✊🏼

PS I‘m sick as hell but I screamed and sobbed tears of joy.. shock.

This isn‘t justice but it sure is accountability ✊🏼

Back to bed I go

CBee YES 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 3y

Challenged us about charities. I am a full time volunteer, below is the young mom charity and alternative schools I am at. Otherwise I am at a title one school. I implore you to support teachers right now. Ask them what they need.

Last March for GET THE VOTE OUT in Chicago (my love snapped this ) going through ALLLL THE PROTEST from the last few years trying to get an idea for my third women's march sign. Mind you I don't think you should protest unless you also fight for your cause..which I do ...daily. There's just so much...it doesn't all fit in one phrase or sign 😳 my first rally 1983🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️😂❤️😭🙌🏻 OYE. Oh it's me with the HAIR. 🤣

Scurvygirl The hair!! 💚yes! 5y
TheBookHippie @Scurvygirl 🙌🏻 I get condemnation every damn day for that hair- I'm not cutting it. It's naturally that color and I like it 🤣❤️🤷🏽‍♀️ people are nuts. 5y
Scurvygirl @TheBookHippie obviously I love it! You do what you do! 5y

TiredLibrarian @TheBookHippie People are so funny about hair. I get people telling me to color mine. 😕😉 5y
Lmstraubie You rock ✊👊 5y
TheBookHippie @TiredLibrarian when my hair goes grey I'm not coloring it ....nope. Ppl are so bizarre. 5y
Kaye It‘s your hair ,and I think it‘s pretty. I earned every one of these grey hairs so I‘m not coloring it . I can‘t believe the number of ladies that say they‘d like to let their grey hair show but they aren‘t that brave. Ridiculous. Men let their hair go grey and they look distinguished. Why do we have to dye our hair, bondo our faces up with makeup, glue on fake fingernails ,get a fake chest put in ,lay in a tanning booth, and starve to catch a man 5y
TheBookHippie @kaye that's how I feel I have a few grey stands -trust me I've earned them -the view of how we should look cracks me up on a daily basis....ugh!!!! 5y

My cousin and I marched today. Along with about 100 other people in my hometown (of those, maybe 15 were poc and we live in a predominantly Hispanic community) and thousands around the United States and throughout the world. We need gun control yesterday. How many more people need to die before we see change? Enough is enough. ✊🏽

On my FB from the ACLU's page today...5 Things you need to know about Trump's DACA Announcement.

BookishMarginalia Thanks for sharing. #WeHoldTheLine 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookishMarginalia #3 Seems very important to spread the word about right now to me. There's limited time, and it may protect some people longer while this is fought through the courts and congress. 7y
Notafraidofwords Thank you for posting. I have friends that will be affected by this. 7y
