Zadie Smith has a unique and beautiful style that #litereads stories haven't featured in the past. What do you think of her style? Do you enjoy it? Did it suit this story? Would you read more?

Billie Holiday is both a real person and a character in this story. Zadie Smith shows her in a new way. Did reading this make you think differently about the real woman? #litereads

This is the second #litereads story we have read that has used second person POV. Does this change how you think of the character? Especially since this character is a real person?

This is a pretty great collection of photographs of Billie Holiday from a week-long engagement at Sugar Hill in 1957. The photographer not only took photos of her performing, but got quite a few candids of Billie behind the scenes and with friends. I feel like you get to know her a bit through these photographs and have a small sense of what her life was like toward the end of her career.

LauraJ I have a few books of Jazz photos. The off-stage candids are always the best. 7y
