Opposites attract? Maybe not. Emilie Getz and Jonas Fielding are as different as two peopleof the same age, with the same faith, living in the same charming Pennsylvania towncould be. She loves history; he loves new ideas. She sticks to the rules; he likes to break them. Shes into saving relics; hes into saving souls. The one trait they share is a penchant for controlling every aspect of their lives, including their stubborn hearts. When Emilies search for an archaeological treasure leads her to the one piece of land she cant have (thanks to Jonas), they choose opposing sides in an engaging battle of wits. Emilie, a no-nonsense sort of woman, is determined to have her way. But Jonas is on a mission as well: He wants to hear Emilie laugh. Often. Reviews Liz Curtis Higgs mixes her usual humor into this entertaining story of roller-coaster romance. Christian Retailing Delicious as Moravian sugar cake! Readers will love it. Lori Copeland, author of Roses Will Bloom Again Bookends is such funrich in character, setting, and spiritual dimensions. Gayle Roper, author of Winter Winds A great story with believable characters, realistic situations, and a sprinkling of Higgss humor. K-LOVE News & Reviews Declare a holiday and cozy up with this engaging novel. Patsy Clairmont, author of Stardust on My Pillow Story Behind the Book Though she has traveled the world, Liz Curtis Higgs is a small-town girl at heart. In Bookends, Liz invites readers to visit a place she knows well: her hometown of Lititz, nestled in the rolling hills of historic Lancaster County , Pennsylvania . Fond memories of her childhood years in the Moravian churchone of the oldest of the Protestant denominationsand her love for Lititz history and traditions serve as a solid underpinning for this lively contemporary tale. Like many couples, Emilie and Jonas resemble human bookendsopposites in every wayuntil Emilies joy-filled spiritual awakening turns their stubborn hearts in the same happy direction. Does it make me odd If I think these bookends are cool?😎🐕🐩 #bookends #dogs #whydoilikethem?

GingerAntics Those are great. I love a good bookend. The last bookends I had were Winnie the Pooh stuck in Rabbit‘s hole. One end was Winnie the Pooh‘s head and the other end was his butt. lol 5y

The last challenge of the #24in48 readathon: Actual Bookends! I‘m at a disadvantage as I‘m not at home right now, so I‘m using my book catalog on LibraryThing to determine this. I have my books separated by genre, and then I alphabetize by author within each genre. Pictured above: the first book on the first shelf you see when you walk into my house: classics—and then the last book on the shelf farthest back in the house: general nonfiction. ⤵️

BarbaraJean I‘ll have to check when I get home, to see if I got this right. I have further subdivisions on the nonfiction shelf, so that one especially may be off! 6y
BarbaraJean Well, I was right about Emma, but there‘s a philosophy section after the biography/memoir section, so the last book on my shelves should be Sartre instead! (edited) 6y

Here are my #literalbookends from my "no organisation" shelf, usually I shelve by size and/or publisher but anything goes in this baby. Here we have a Goldsmiths prizewinner and and a second-hand volume of Russian short stories my mum got me for Christmas @24in48 #24in48

I don't know how I'm going to get through this book. Emilie is stuck up, high-handed, and nasty. The raving reviews for this book lied and I feel duped. I don't want to keep reading.
