The Wandering Earth
The Wandering Earth | Cixin Liu
4 posts | 3 read | 9 to read
Cixin Liu is China's bestselling science fiction author and one of the most important voices in world SF. His novel, The Three-Body Problem, was the first translated work of SF ever to win the Hugo Award. Here is the first collection of his short fiction: eleven stories, including five Chinese Galaxy Award-winners, form a blazingly original ode to planet earth, its pasts and its futures.

As with most short story collections, it was a mixed bunch. There were a few I loved and some were quite haunting. However, this is a rare case where the movie is better than the title story.
Would recommend this if you enjoyed The Three-Body Problem.

Graywacke Is it related to the movie? 2y
tessavi @Graywacke The title story setting is the same, but that's a out it. None of the other stories are related. 2y
Graywacke @tessavi huh. Interesting. 2y

#quoteoftheday I've only been reading translated SFF for a year or so, and I'm loving it! Reading a familiar genre from a very different perspective and culture is really quite fascinating. Western scifi tends to be more individualistic and character-driven while Cixin Liu's books focus much more on big plots - the characters are relatively unimportant in the grand scheme of things.

Fascinating - sci-fi through a Chinese lens.
