Not book-related, but I had to share these empty shelves from my local Safeway today. The left side is the canned protein aisle (SPAM, tuna, chicken, Vienna sausages, etc...) The right side is the chip aisle. Had I gone by the water, beer, & ramen aisles--those would be cleared out too. Hawaii residents have their priorities when stocking up for hurricanes & tropical storms.🤣I do feel sorry for the canned clams--nobody wanted them! #wegotlucky

CouronneDhiver Oh my! Better safe than sorry, they always say 6y
Aims42 Glad you‘re safe so far 😃 (poor canned clams, glad things aren‘t that desperate) (edited) 6y
Dolly Are most foods shipped over from the mainland? If so will there be a significant delay in products reaching you? 6y

DebinHawaii @CouronneDhiver So true! 😉 6y
DebinHawaii @Aims42 Yes, no one was ready to rely on canned clams yet! 😆 6y
LeahBergen Oh wow! 😮 6y
DebinHawaii @Dolly Yes, Hawaii imports 85-90% of the food. They can get things here relatively quickly if need --barring catastrophes & weather events so most things won't take too long. Also there are likely orders that were stopped or delayed in the process that would arrive quicker. I went in for another can of chickpeas & veggies for soup & they were plentiful today--so the healthier & perishable stuff didn't take two much of a hit.😉😆 6y
DebinHawaii @LeahBergen Pretty interesting to see which shelves were empty & which were not. 🤔😆 6y
Copwithabook This is what it looks like in Arkansas when they predict two inches of snow 🤣🤣 I‘m not even kidding 6y
Texreader So good to hear from you!! Glad you haven‘t been reduced to canned clams yet! Holler if you need anything. Your mainland friends are here for you. 6y
Slajaunie Here in Louisiana it is bread and canned goods that go first. Oh and water! Make sure you get water!!! 6y
Slajaunie Fill up the bathtub and put a rain barrel outside too! You can use that to flush toilets if necessary. 6y
DebinHawaii @Slajaunie Good advice. 👍We are actually OK, the storm weakened & passed us yesterday--this was the aftermath at the grocery store today when I went to grab fresh veggies for soup. 6y
DebinHawaii @Texreader Thank you! 🤗We were very lucky here on Oahu and Max and I are fine, but I'll keep in mind--instead of the canned clams! 🤣 6y
Slajaunie Good to hear! Needless to say, I have not watched the news! 😋 6y
DebinHawaii @Copwithabook I can imagine! It looked similar in Portland & Seattle when it snowed but maybe not as much hoarding of the SPAM. 😉😆 6y
Ddzmini 🤣🤣🤣 hope everyone is safe have friends vacation there and they said the weather was beautiful but we all know how Mother Nature is or can be stay safe 🙏 6y
LisaJo Here in the south it is bread and milk. Glad you pulled thru the storm OK. (edited) 6y
