This is a book full of funny sister-relatable poems that are light-hearted and humorous.

I love this book! It would be great for parents who have girls.

A very sweet collection of poems that tell how it is to be a big sister.

Being a big sister myself, I thought this was such a cute and fun collection of poems that are about being a big sister. Really great way to incorporate poetry into the classroom. Is great because it shows how poems don't need to always rhyme which is probably what most children think are poems.

The poems were made to tell a story with each page. This book was like another book that I had read. I enjoy these types of poems because I think that it is a great way for children to start to understand poems before introducing them to poems that may have hidden meaning.
Aside from this, the poems told stories rather than feelings most of the time. The illustrations were a great aid to see what was going on within the story. Published in 2011.

I like how the poems were from the perspective of jess and they all told a story.

This book is short, simple, and sometimes funny poems about Jess and her little sister Emma. This book can be relatable for anyone with any siblings. It uses lots of rhyming and is perfect for children. It would also be a good gift for someone becoming an older sibling soon :)

“Early morning -
waking up icy cold
because a certain little monster
is hogging all the covers.“

I would use this book in my classroom because it could be beneficial for some of my students that might have younger or older siblings. This book had a variety of different situations which siblings might run into so it is relatable for children and allows them to think of other resolutions to these situations.

Emma Dilemma: Big Sister Poems written by Kristine O'Connell George. This book is full of poems that talk about the bond between siblings, in this case, a girl and her younger sister. The poem rhymes naturally and the lines within the poem reinforce every feeling and experience between the sisters including the good, the bad, etc.

I loved how each poem was on the shorter side and on its own page. The illustrations also went along with what the poems were talking about. I loved the idea of this book and I think any little girl would love to have this read to her.

I loved this book and the fact that all of its poems are about being a big sister. I would love to read this to a little girl who is going to be a big sister and see how she reacts to it. This would be the perfect for children of any age.

“I told a joke at school and no one laughed. I told the joke at dinner and Emma laughed so hard, her milk came out of her nose. Mom and Dad said I can't tell that joke at dinner ever again.“

I liked how the poems were all told from the big sisters point of view about her little sister, Emma. The illustrations were very warm and welcoming with all of the curvy lines.

I loved how this book had small poems on each page about a certain aspect of being a big sister. It told short stories in each poem; a narrative poem. All of the little poems made a big story.

“I wish grownups would quit saying I‘ll bet you‘re a very good big sister.” Grownups used to say this to me about my little sister all the time when I was little!

I would love to have this book in my classroom one day. It would be so fun to use it for an introduction to a lesson about family and relationships. Children love to talk about their siblings!

Published in 2011- Emma Dilemma used poetry almost in the form of short stories to talk about the special bond between a big and little sister. The stories are so relatable to the way younger sisters treat their older sisters, and how every relationship no matter how difficult is always one that will be cherished forever

“One of the reasons Emma loves me is that I am the only one who can emerge the names of all of her rocks.”

I would use this book in the classroom because most children with a younger sister may be able to relate to this story. It‘s also an good way to portray poetry.

This is a good poetry book because it uses onomatopoeias and the images would delight their senses.

Emma Dilemma is a book of poetry about siblings. I think children will enjoy this book because they will see similar situations with their siblings at home.

Poetry. This is a wonderful story of poetry for sisters to read, especially big sisters. It‘s heartfelt and sweet and honest and the poems are a wonderful introduction to free verse poetry for kids to read.

Emma Dilemma by Kristine O‘Connell George and illustrated by Nancy Carpenter, 2011. This is a wonderful book of themed poetry. All of the poems have a relatable feel and a rhythm and flow despite the lack of rhyme. The structure of the poems as far as spacing goes adds to the poems and makes them feel like real thoughts. The watercolor illustrations add incredibly to each poem.
