This B picture book would be a great supplemental reading for a history lesson involving Anne Frank. It could be used as a partner read as a hook for a history lesson. https://www.readingrockets.org/blogs/shanahan-literacy/who-should-teach-discipli... #UCFLAE3414SP21

Emiranda UDL 3.1 is shown in this strategy by providing this book prior to teaching about anne frank to supply background knowledge. EL29 could be used if this is for an older student to teach the history of Anne Frank in a simplified way. 3y
KeanaE A great source for social studies subject. Incredible UDL and El strategies great ways to implement while reading. 3y
DrSpalding This is a wonderful series and as your peer noted, an excellent series to use during social studies. This book specifically would align with social studies standards in fifth grade. English learner strategy 28 specifically recommends providing biographies to students. 3y

An excellent introduction to Anne Frank and her story. Well written with care. I‘m not sure what age is the target for this but unless you are ready for some heavy conversations or your child already is at the mental state to grasp and understand a lot of what this brings up I would recommend 4th grade (9 yrs) and older.
So far in all of The Who/What books this is in my top 3 for how it was written and the information provided. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This biography reminds me of the “Diary of Anne Frank“ book, but with easier to understand language. It uses past personal experiences in history to help children understand what happened.

I would use this book in a second grade classroom because it is a starting chapter book. It also is when we could start talking about the holacaust.

I would read this book to my classroom when introducing my students to history and Hitler and the nazis and how Ann Frank was a significant young woman in the hiding of Jewish people and her diaries.

This biography book is all about the life of Ann Frank. Ann Frank wrote in a diary about her life and family's life hiding from Hitler and the Nazis. This biography uncovers her life before the secret annex and the traumas of hiding. Maps and visuals in the biography provide historical references in a way where young children will find fascinating.

Published in 2007, this biography is full of information that is great to tie into a history unit. I think that since it is packed full of serious content that it is better for the middle childhood age group. This book touches on the discrimination of the Jewish community during the rise of Hitler. This story explains how Anne had to go into hiding for 2 years.

This wonderful easy-to-read biography of Anne Frank brought me right back to Amsterdam where I got to visit the Anne Frank House back in May! This book was flooded with so much detail of her life before and during the secret annex and what it was like to be in hiding during the Holocaust. IR would be a great teaching strategy as students who have a desire to learn more about this time in history will have freedom of choice to pick this book up!

DMoux http://resources.corwin.com/sites/default/files/Appendix_I_3-5_Questions.pdf An awesome resource on teaching students to generate their own questions with references to the text of this biography! UDL 7.1 optimizes individual choice as students are able to choose this for an IR. ESOL 1 teaches questioning for clarification with the resource provided! #ucflae3414su19 5y
DrSpalding These are easy to read biographies! These would make excellent independent reading options however you could have small groups reading different biographies in LCs and use the jigsaw technique to share what they learned. 5y

The kids and I generally enjoy the "Who Was" series. This is a nice intro to Anne Frank for those who aren't ready to read the diary yet. (I still cried a few times though)

LeslieO These are very popular in my school library. 7y
