Shopaholic Abroad
Shopaholic Abroad | Sophie Kinsella
For Rebecca Bloomwood, life is peachy. She has a job on morning TV, her bank manager is actually being nice to her, and when it comes to spending money, her new motto is Buy Only What You Need - and she's really (sort of) sticking to it. The icing on the brioche is that she's been offered a chance to work in New York. New York! The Museum of Modern Art! The Guggenheim! The Metropolitan Opera House! And Becky does mean to go to them all. Honestly. It's just that it seems silly not to check out a few other famous places first. Like Saks. And Bloomingdales. And Barneys. And one of those fantastic sample sales where you can get a Prada dress for $10. Or was it $100? Is Becky too dazzled to care? .

This is the second book in the series and honestly I can‘t get enough of it . It‘s witty, has great plot twists and is extremely entertaining. I highly recommend it as you begin to fall in love with the main character and her life. I bought these books in a charity shop and I don‘t regret it.
#19 read a book that cost under 3€

It‘s a whole new beginning. It‘s yellow taxicabs and skyscrapers, and Woody Allen and Breakfast at Tiffany‘s. The weird thing is that although I‘ve never actually been to New York, I already feel an affinity toward it.

These books of Kinsella‘s are torture- terrible, beautiful torture. I can only read them knowing that they‘ll have good endings. The train wreck that is inevitable is so bloody hard to watch as I read, I can hardly get through it. I even cried at the end of this one, there were a couple twists I didn‘t see coming and they made the ending even better than I‘d hoped. That I can‘t get to the end of the book fast enough is a sign of a great story.

This is a fun and light hearted series I read many years ago. #uptown #princeofjuly 🗽💕

vkois88 I don't think I ever actually read any of these... but I hear they're wonderful 6y
JoScho @vkois88 it is a fun series. 6y
Mollyanna Definitely a fun series which I am slowly making my way through. Becky makes me cringe and laugh at the same time with some of her antics. 6y
JoScho @Mollyanna it has been so long since I read them I am not even sure if I finished the series. I need to look into that. 6y

Starting this today. I usually don't read this type of novels but thought I'd give it a try. Any thoughts on this book??

I adore this book, but I get so stressed out when she lies about things! Anyone else slightly anxious while reading these books waiting to find out how it will blow up in Bex face?

kimba7 Totally. Glad to know I'm not the only one. It's like riding a roller coaster. 5y

I think this was a lot better than the 1st one because me and Becky have more rapport, more history and more familiarity. I still dislike her at times but I feel like a friend who wants to help a friend out. I just want to slap her on the face and make her realize her SICKNESS! haha She seems to hate money a lot, always spending it because she hates it so much! But I actually cried because I felt sad when Becky and Luke broke up.

Not a bad way to spend the morning. Kitty approves. What should I read first?

CoffeeCatsBooks Little tiny kitty tongue! 😻Lol, I just realized that was from the cover. (edited) 7y

You don't "get shopping out of the way." You get other things out of the way.

-I ❤️ Rebecca Bloomwood! This also sums up my attitude about shopping.-

I've decided to read the rest of this series, though I'm not really a series kind of gal. But sometimes Rebecca Bloomwood and her shenanigans are just the lighthearted reads I need!

Still trying to catch that breeze, still trying to figure out why Becky Bloomwood has the impulse control of a toddler. #loveitanyway #currentlyreading #sophiekinsella
