Enid Blyton's books are beloved the world over and The Famous Five have been the perennial favourite of her fans. Now, in this new series of Enid Blyton for Grown-Ups, George, Dick, Anne, Julian and Timmy confront possibly their toughest challenge yet: parenthood Bringing up a baby would surely be kid's play for The Five. How hard could it possibly be?! When the doorbell rings one Saturday afternoon, the last thing the Five were expecting to find on their doorstep was a baby... But the Five are next of kin to Cousin Rupert and his wife, so when they find themselves in a spot of bother and are destined for a short spell behind bars, Anne, Dick, George and Anne are the first port of call. First, it's the fear and the tiredness that kicks in. They are terrified at being responsible for this new life and have no idea they're doing it right. Why is it crying? They use Dr Google constantly, who whatever the situation offers the same range of advice from 'don't worry about it' to 'rush her to the A&E'. 'Why is she crying?' they constantly ask. 'Why?' It keeps them up all night every night, until they are reduced to walking ghosts, haunted by a numb and impotent fury. Is this an adventure too far for our Five?

Last night I just about finished wrapping all the 🎁. Xmas snuck up on me. The bag, card & tagged 📖 are for my partner in crime. I may have added the other two books to my already vast library while shopping for him. They were bargains that I just couldn‘t resist. He won‘t be happy about that but I am as cunning as a 🦊 & he will never know 🧙‍♀️. The card was an op shop find still in the plastic. Op shops are where I get most of my stationery.

The three year old decided 4am was a good time to get up. Luckily my lovely husband dealt with him and is giving me a lift to the bus this morning. I'll get my revenge though when he's woken up to get on the car 😝

laurieluna All the coffee! My 3 year old was up at 6 this morning, and the baby was up 4 times in the night wanting to party 😂 you can do it! ✊ 6y

Pickpick

I'm not usually a laugh out loud whilst reading type but this startled more than a few (rather loud) laughs out of me. Becoming surprise foster parents to their cousins baby - the 5 adapt hilariously to their new routines - to baby swimming lessons, to nappy changes, buying a pram/baby transportation vehicle and sleep deprivation to getting into the best possible school mania.

'In the past hour, I've been through an intensely humiliating process of religious impersonation. By the way, if anyone asks, we're all Catholic now. I've printed out the Wikipedia page and I'll give you the main dot points later.' He passed out A4 sheets to all.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GlitteryOtters, do you know the originals? I need two more to complete the set... 😂 7y
GlitteryOtters I know them a little (have read 2, I think, but it was over 20 years ago, so I am no expert, but know enough to appreciate this concept 😂😂) 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GlitteryOtters, ooh! I'm always interested in seeing how big the Blyton sphere of influence is (she doesn't seem to be part of most American childhoods) 7y
