Ada's Violin
Ada's Violin: The Story of the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay | Susan Hood
5 posts | 10 read | 4 to read
From award-winning author Susan Hood and illustrator Sally Wern Comport comes the extraordinary true tale of the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay, an orchestra made up of children playing instruments built from recycled trash. Ada Ros grew up in Cateura, a small town in Paraguay built on a landfill. She dreamed of playing the violin, but with little money for anything but the bare essentials, it was never an option...until a music teacher named Favio Chvez arrived. He wanted to give the children of Cateura something special, so he made them instruments out of materials found in the trash. It was a crazy idea, but one that would leave Adaand her townforever changed. Now, the Recycled Orchestra plays venues around the world, spreading their message of hope and innovation.

A true story of an orchestra of children playing instruments made from the local trash dump. Please read this and share it with others! We need more of these stories in the world.

#Movember Day 2: I am not unfamiliar with the concept of finding beauty or #music or even magic and beauty in trash or landfills. That is simply the way of the world in a lot of developing countries – along with the celebration of grit and resilience, similar to what can be seen in nonfiction story. My review of this unforgettable tale: https://wp.me/pDlzr-egV

Cinfhen I read another story similar to this that was also inspirational 4y
GatheringBooks @Cinfhen oooh i shall stack that one then and be on the lookout for it. 💕📚🧚🏼‍♀️ 4y
